Ugolini Advances Sustainability with Eastman’s Tritan™ Renew in Food Equipment Design

Ugolini, a leading Italian manufacturer of countertop equipment for the catering and hospitality industries, has advanced its sustainability efforts by incorporating Tritan™ Renew, Eastman’s next-generation copolyester, into its product designs.

The company first began using Eastman’s original Tritan copolyester in 2019, following European regulations that prohibited the use of BPA in food-contact materials. Now, in response to both stricter sustainability standards and increased consumer demand for environmentally responsible products, Ugolini has transitioned to Tritan Renew—a more eco-friendly evolution of the same trusted material.

“We’re thrilled to introduce a greener version of a material we already have complete confidence in,” said Marco Ugolini, CEO of the company. “Over the years, Tritan has proven to be exceptionally durable. With Tritan Renew, we can maintain that same level of technical excellence while offering an added environmental benefit our customers truly value.”

Tritan Renew is produced using Eastman’s molecular recycling technology, which allows for the use of certified recycled content.* This innovative process cuts down on fossil resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, all while preserving the product’s strength, safety, and longevity.

For Ugolini, choosing the right material is a key priority. Beverage containers used for preparation and dispensing must comply with strict hygiene and safety standards, as well as offer chemical and thermal resistance and withstand frequent cleaning cycles. Tritan Renew not only fulfills these requirements but also provides a BPA-free option that’s increasingly in demand across international markets.

“We’re proud to work alongside Ugolini, a company that continues to push innovation in its field through the adoption of more sustainable materials,” said Paolo Franco, Eastman’s Business Development Manager. “By using Tritan Renew, Ugolini delivers products that remain safe and high-performing while also reducing their environmental footprint—a factor that’s becoming increasingly important to consumers.”

The collaboration between Ugolini and Eastman has come to life in the creation of the ICON 3 model, featuring a technically complex tank design. Thanks to the combined expertise of both teams, the mold was optimized for Tritan Renew, ensuring superior mechanical strength and aesthetic quality in the final product.

This partnership reflects the evolution of Ugolini’s equipment—from the initial adoption of Tritan to today’s shift toward Tritan Renew—underscoring the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
