Tetra Tech posts biggest update to its FEMA app for iOS and Android

Tetra Tech’s has updated its mobile app, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster survivors.


Tetra Tech's FEMA Digital Communications and Content Support Services team has contributed its biggest ever update to the FEMA mobile app to date. The new and improved FEMA mobile app for iOS and Android is designed to empower survivors and enable them to make informed decisions about disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

The updated app features an improved look, feel, and functionality that better aligns with survivor feedback and current FEMA branding.

"We're proud of it to be key enablers in FEMA's mission to help people before, during and after disasters," said Scott Rieger, Director of Unit Operations at Tetra Tech's Federal IT Group, excited about the expanded features, capabilities, content and mobile Accessibility, which will be made available to the public with this release.”

Over the past year, our team has been working to redefine the mobile app, making it more intuitive, streamlined, and useful for community members, while at the same time too strict is US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) security, privacy, and accessibility requirements.
Key new features include:
Personalization— Users can select a main location to get nearby weather and emergency alerts in realtime. Easy User Interface Design— The core elements of the FEMA app have been revamped and can now be accessed through one consistent navigation menu, making the app much more simple to use. Preparedness 101— Users can learn how to prepare for disasters by looking at slideshows. Recovery FAQs— Users can explore a library of post-disaster frequently asked questions (FAQs) to get critical information when they need it most Emergency shelter and disaster recovery center (DRC) search—An enhanced look and feel makes finding nearby shelters and DRCs easier than ever
Since 2007, Tetra Tech has supported FEMA's digital content and communications program and in addition to our support for the FEMA mobile app, the company has also led several significant efforts to redesign and improve functionality of FEMA.gov, FEMA Careers, Ready.gov,  FEMA.gov and DIAMOND.
