T-Mobile's 5G Network Enables Early Detection of Boulder Wildfire and Supports Frontline Responders

07/27/2023

After the Boulder Wildfire in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, Pano AI successfully detected it early with the help of T-Mobile's 5G network. Subsequently, T-Mobile's Emergency Response team was swiftly dispatched to the Tygh Valley Spike Camp. Their primary objectives were to bolster network capacity and offer crucial support to the courageous frontline responders engaged in containing the wildfire.

Despite the wildfire's presence in the region, T-Mobile's network remained unaffected. Nevertheless, T-Mobile teams were present on-site to provide an improved network experience for 324 users, who consumed more than 414GB of open and secure Wi-Fi. This reliable connectivity played a crucial role in enabling crews to order supplies, access real-time maps, and efficiently manage the operation's command post. Moreover, T-Mobile also supported cellular traffic of over 60GB, facilitating firefighters, linemen, and logistics personnel to stay connected with their loved ones during their downtime.

T-Mobile's Emergency Response Team is committed to collaborating with state and local officials, first responders, and organizations in times of need. For agencies requiring communication assistance, T-Mobile offers a 24-hour emergency hotline at 888-639-0020 and an email contact at ERTRequests@T-Mobile.com.
