The second report of ReRisk on ASEAN members covers the Lower Mekong Basin.

Dailycsr.com – 25 February 2016 – RepRisk is counted among the leading organisations that is equipped to provide “business intelligence” on a dynamic scale on various risky fields including governance, social and environmental risks factors that would influence the respective business.

The company of RepRisk has come up with second series of report featuring as a “Special Report on the Lower Mekong Basin” which covers the “Association of Southeast Asian Nations”. The latter is “an economic and political organisation” and is made up of ten nations.

Highlighting the risks and “ESG challenges” faced by the “four countries”, the report introduces many of the issues that are “transboundary” in nature. Moreover, the same issues are also affecting the “lower reaches of the Mekong River” and reaching out to the countries such as “Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam”.

The abundance of water resources in these countries played a major role in their traditional economies. However, there is a shifting trend in these countries, whereby they are now embracing “industrial development” while moving away from their “agrarian-based economy” at the same time. Likewise, they are faced with challenges such as “balancing economic growth with environmental and social concerns”.

In fact, RepRisk also informs to publish “Special Reports” covering other member countries forming the “ASEAN bloc”, while this is the second of the series, the first of them had come out in the month of December 2015 and evaluated the ESG risks threatening Indonesia which also happens to be the “largest economy in the ASEAN bloc”.
