Quest Diagnostics and Y Partnership Promotes Health Equity in Baltimore: MLK Memorial Award Recognizes Collaboration

Bob Kocher, who manages the laboratory at Quest’s Baltimore rapid response lab, was honored to receive the Healthy Living award during the MLK Memorial Breakfast on behalf of Q4HE. This award acknowledges collaborators dedicated to reducing health disparities among underserved populations in Baltimore City each year.
 
John Hoey, President & CEO of the Y in Central Maryland, expressed gratitude for Quest for Health Equity's leadership, emphasizing the alignment of their efforts with the mission to build healthy, inclusive communities. The Y presented the Healthy Living Award to Quest for Health Equity at their annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast.
 
Through a grant from the Quest Diagnostics Foundation as part of the Q4HE initiative, the Y in Druid Hill will enhance its healthy equity coalition. This includes expanding capacity building for community agencies and offering no-cost services and programs addressing social determinants of health to improve community residents' outcomes.
 
Michael Floyd, Executive Director of Q4HE, highlighted their commitment to addressing systemic inequities causing health disparities. He emphasized collaboration with grantees deeply rooted in their communities to achieve collective impact, aiming to improve health outcomes in Central Maryland.
 
As part of this collaboration, Quest Diagnostics will provide no-cost Blueprint for Wellness® testing at select community health events identified by the Y in Druid Hill. This comprehensive health screening empowers individuals with insights to take control of their health by highlighting personal strengths and risks through clinical laboratory tests and measurements.
