Qualcomm Showcases Edge AI and Embedded Innovations at Embedded World 2025

04/28/2025

The AI revolution is driving a surge of innovation within the embedded systems community, fueling a wave of new applications that harness smarter capabilities at the edge. At the forefront of this movement is Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., helping to transform these concepts into practical solutions.

This momentum will be clearly visible at Embedded World, one of the premier events for embedded systems professionals — including developers, project managers, system architects, and industry leaders — who gather to explore advancements across automotive, healthcare, IoT, and more.

At the event, Qualcomm will showcase new developer kits and provide expert support to help attendees maximize the potential of its technology. A major highlight will be the expansive board wall, featuring over 90 modules — many developed by Qualcomm's ecosystem partners — alongside numerous live demonstrations.

Ahead of the conference, Qualcomm also revealed an agreement to acquire Edge Impulse Inc., a leading provider of a complete edge AI development platform. This acquisition will enable developers to easily build, deploy, and manage AI models across a wide range of devices, with special optimization for Qualcomm’s Dragonwing processors.

These initiatives emphasize Qualcomm's dedication to expanding intelligent computing across industries. A major goal is to make the power of Qualcomm Dragonwing solutions — combining high-speed connectivity, advanced processing, and AI at the edge — more accessible to developers. At Embedded World, over 50 partners will be presenting solutions powered by Qualcomm's innovations.

Last year’s conference in Nuremberg, Germany, welcomed 32,000 attendees and 1,100 exhibitors, and similar crowds are anticipated this year. Here’s a preview of what Qualcomm has planned:

Expanding the AI Toolkit for IoT
Being a trusted resource for the embedded community means providing the right technologies and support. As part of this effort, Qualcomm announced its agreement to acquire Edge Impulse, pending customary closing conditions.

Edge Impulse is trusted by over 170,000 developers to create, deploy, and monitor AI models across diverse devices. Its platform offers a robust suite of tools for data collection, preparation, model training, deployment, and monitoring — all through an intuitive, low-code or no-code interface.

Qualcomm plans to enable developers using Edge Impulse to target its Dragonwing processors, which deliver powerful on-device AI, computer vision, graphics, and processing performance.

Hands-On Experience with New Developer Kits
Visitors to the Qualcomm booth will be able to explore the Qualcomm QCC74xM and QCC730M Evaluation Kits, designed to highlight the capabilities of their respective modules. These modules offer features like micro-power Wi-Fi, programmable RISC-V processing, Bluetooth support, and Matter compatibility, ensuring extended battery life and adaptability for embedded applications.

Returning this year is Qualcomm’s famous board wall, showcasing 98 different modules and development kits from third-party partners — giving developers a rich set of options for creating and commercializing next-generation embedded solutions.

Live Demonstrations of Technology in Action
Beyond hardware, the booth will host more than a dozen demos, many led by Qualcomm’s ecosystem partners.

Highlights include Sunmi, iterate.ai, and AuthSignal presenting a multi-OS self-checkout solution with biometric payments and an AI assistant for troubleshooting — offering a glimpse into the future of retail. Sigma Connectivity will demonstrate a dual-camera system that uses machine learning to translate American Sign Language (ASL) into real-time closed captions. Meanwhile, Promwad will showcase an AI-powered service robot capable of navigating the event space and delivering packages.

The centerpiece demo will be a dynamic 3D tabletop showcasing industrial IoT applications like worker safety, incident management, and asset inspection.
