PSE&G named EV movement leader, focuses on customer convenience and affordability.

The prestigious 2022 Drive Electric Award - Utility Award from Plug In America was presented to Public Service Electric and Gas Company, New Jersey's largest utility with 2.3 million electric customers and 1.9 million gas customers, for its Clean Energy Future - Electric Vehicle Program. PSE&G was recognized nationally for its leadership in advancing EV infrastructure in the state. PSE&G has pledged to make driving an electric vehicle more affordable and convenient in New Jersey.

PSE&G is the first New Jersey utility to invest $166 million in the state's EV charging infrastructure, with 45,000 EV chargers installed throughout its service territory for residential, commercial, and direct current fast charge (DCFC) EV charging.

The state-approved program assists qualified customers with EV charger installation costs and covers some or all of the costs associated with upgrading their electric service. It accomplishes this by encouraging increased electric usage, providing demand charge rebates for DCFC sites, and providing residential customers with off-peak charging credits by reducing a charger's energy use during peak hours. This programme contributes to the state's overall electrification efforts.

“At PSE&G, we are powering a future where people use less energy, and it’s cleaner, safer and delivered more reliably than ever,” said Dawn Neville, manager of electric transportation at PSE&G. “We are proud to be recognized for our leadership of transportation electrification in New Jersey as we all work toward creating an infrastructure to access affordable, cleaner energy."

PSE&G was also recognized for its commitment to converting its vehicle fleet, which will help to reduce carbon emissions and set an example for others. PSE&G is working to convert 100% of its passenger vehicles, such as sedans and SUVs, 60% of medium-duty vehicles, and 90% of heavy-duty vehicles to battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, or anti-idle job site work systems by 2030 as part of its carbon-reduction strategy.

In October 2022, the Drive Electric Awards 2022 were presented in Los Angeles, California.

Supporting EV adoption is just one way PSE&G is assisting New Jersey residents and businesses in reducing their carbon footprints. These actions can aid in the mitigation of climate change. PSE&G will continue to help customers make the transition to low-carbon energy by promoting energy efficiency and the use of electric vehicles.
