Owen Corning has made a choice of green power for advancing the “voluntary market for green power” besides developing “those sources”.

Dailycsr.com – 25 February 2021 – Owens Corning has made its debutant place on EPA’s “National Top 100 List” for the “largest green power users” at 16th rank. Moreover, the company has also occupied the 11th position on “the list of Green Power Partners from the Fortune 500®”.

Almost “59%” of Owen’s U.S. operations are powered by green electricity which directly comes from its “renewable energy programs”. In 2015, Owens Corning signed on “power purchase agreements” whereby enabling “new wind capacity in Texas and Oklahoma”. Both the wind farms became operational in “late 2016” with the capacity to potentially “generate 1.1 million megawatt hours annually”.

The solar array of “2.4-megawatt” located in “Toledo, Ohio” deliver “20% of the power” requirement of Owen’s “world headquarters”. Moreover, solar panels also supply “8% of the electricity” in Delmar’s “insulation plant” while “5% for the roofing plant in Kearny”. Owen’s critical combat strategy for climate change is to turn towards “100% renewable electricity by 2030”. In the words of the ‘Senior Sustainability Analytics Lead’, Jim Close:
“It’s an ambitious goal. For a global manufacturer, it comes with some challenges, but we know it’s the right thing to do. The Green Power Partnership offers tools and resources to support our work, and we appreciate the recognition of the progress we’ve made.”
