MetLife, Inc. published its 2022 Sustainability Report today, outlining how the company upholds its purpose, contributes to secure futures, and fosters a cycle of shared value for its customers, employees, communities, and shareholders. Sustainability is deeply ingrained in MetLife's operations, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the company remains dedicated to making a significant global impact.
 
MetLife's primary objective is to adapt to a rapidly changing world and make strides towards its 2030 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commitments and environmental targets. The report emphasizes MetLife's progress in these areas and showcases the company's positive influence, including:
 
Allocating $37.9 million in grants during 2022 through the MetLife Foundation's portfolios focused on Economic Inclusion, Financial Health, and Resilient Communities.
 
Ongoing efforts to support a resilient and flourishing environment, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 49% since 2019, planting approximately 800,000 trees since 2020, and maintaining carbon neutrality—a status achieved in 2016, making MetLife the first U.S.-based insurer to do so.
 
Managing over $77 billion in responsible investments through MetLife Investment Management by the end of 2022.
 
Initiating around $885 million in DEI investments in 2022, nearing the fulfillment of MetLife's commitment to invest $1 billion by 2030.
