March Networks Launches Cost-Effective Cloud Storage for Video Surveillance

01/12/2026

March Networks, a global leader in intelligent video surveillance, has introduced its new Cloud Storage solution as part of its latest product and software release, presented at Intersec Dubai. Initially launched in December in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the solution is now accessible to customers around the world.

Expanding on its existing cloud capabilities, the offering addresses a common challenge for organizations: securely storing increasing amounts of video without incurring additional infrastructure or storage expenses.

Flexible, Scalable Cloud Storage Designed for Cost Efficiency and Control
As video retention demands rise, conventional storage systems often require costly hardware upgrades and create growing operational overhead. The latest March Networks release enhances cloud functionality with a tiered storage model optimized for long-term archiving, powered by AWS. Recent and frequently used video remains easily accessible for quick investigations, while older footage is securely stored using Amazon S3 Glacier, providing a low-cost solution for extended retention.

This tiered strategy allows organizations to cut long-term storage costs by up to 80% over five years, while retaining secure access to archived content. Retrieval typically takes 12 to 48 hours, and once accessed, footage can be reviewed and edited directly in the March Networks application, supporting high-quality evidence handling without limiting the number of cameras that can be backed up.

"Long-term video retention has consistently been a major operational and cost challenge for our customers," said Jeff Corrall, Chief Product Officer at March Networks. "This release aligns cost, performance, and access with how video is actually used, providing a practical solution to one of the industry’s biggest problems."

Real-World Impact
Traditional on-premise storage can drive up retention costs due to ongoing maintenance, IT overhead, and hardware replacement cycles. One customer, managing 580 cameras and roughly 5,600 TB of archived video, estimated annual on-premise storage costs at about $1.7 million. By leveraging March Networks Cloud Storage, the same data could be retained for approximately $347,000 per year, while keeping recent video immediately accessible. This hybrid approach significantly reduced costs while maintaining operational efficiency.

Cloud and Software Upgrades
Alongside long-term cloud storage, the release introduces a range of software improvements designed to enhance security, compliance, and operational effectiveness across industries:
Enhanced AI Smart Search: Provides faster, more intuitive searching using natural language, time-based prompts, visual matching, and smarter alerts. Attribute Search Enhancements: Adds zone-specific precision for quicker, more accurate investigations across multiple cameras, all while keeping data securely on-premises. Smart Rules Wizard: Simplifies the creation of real-time alert logic through step-by-step guidance, reducing setup time and ensuring consistency. Command Enterprise (CES) and Command Client Improvements: Offers faster event filtering, broader device support, keyboard shortcuts, and real-time alarm monitoring for improved operational responsiveness.
Expanded Camera and Recording Options
The March Networks edge portfolio now includes new and updated cameras and recorders:
EL5 Turret Camera: A high-quality, cost-effective 5MP camera available in fixed and motorized versions for general surveillance in commercial and retail spaces. AI12 360 Camera: Provides 360-degree coverage, reducing the number of devices required while improving situational awareness and investigative efficiency. EL5 Nano Dome Camera: A compact indoor dome delivering 5MP video, audio, and intelligent analytics, ideal for high-traffic locations such as retail stores, restaurants, and financial institutions. New EL 24- and 32-Channel Recorders: High-capacity, all-IP recording solutions for small- to mid-sized deployments, fully integrated with March Networks cloud services for centralized management and analytics. Expanded ONVIF Support: Enables the use of additional camera models and third-party devices while leveraging advanced analytics across existing setups.
These updates combine to deliver a comprehensive, end-to-end video platform from the edge to the cloud, helping organizations modernize infrastructure, reduce storage costs, and maximize long-term value from their video data.
