LA Galaxy Foundation Enhances Annalee Elementary Garden for Earth Month 2025

In honor of Earth Month, the LA Galaxy Foundation, in partnership with Freeway Insurance and the Garden School Foundation, revitalized the gardens at Annalee Avenue Elementary School in Carson, CA. This initiative was part of the MLS WORKS Greener Goals Week of Service, which took place from April 14–22, 2025.

On April 22, 2025, LA Galaxy players JT Marcinkowski and Tucker Lepley, along with the club’s mascot Cozmo, staff from the front office, AEG employees, and LA Galaxy fans, gathered to replant and enhance the school’s garden. Their collective efforts included building new ADA-compliant garden beds, clearing weeds, adding mulch and fresh soil, and planting a range of fruits, vegetables, and flowers, ultimately transforming the garden into a more accessible and educational space for students.

The produce grown in the raised beds will be used in healthy cooking classes organized by the Garden School Foundation. Additionally, community members will have the opportunity to enjoy the harvest several times a year.

“The LA Galaxy is committed to fostering community spirit and promoting environmental responsibility,” said Felicia Hano, Community Relations Coordinator for the LA Galaxy Foundation. “By collaborating with our partners and volunteers to enhance the gardens at Annalee Elementary, we are providing students with a meaningful space to learn about sustainability and the importance of protecting the environment.”

The garden project was developed by the Garden School Foundation, an organization that provides hands-on, garden-based education for students at Title I schools throughout Los Angeles. To learn more about the Garden School Foundation, click here.
