KeyBank's Longfellow Senior Housing: Award-Winning Redevelopment in Cleveland

04/17/2024

KeyBank's investment in the redevelopment of the historic Longfellow Senior Housing in Cleveland's Collinwood neighborhood has garnered recognition with CoStar's 2023 Impact Award for Redevelopment of the Year in Cleveland. With a $16.9 million investment from KeyBank Community Development Lending and Investment (CDLI), along with $8.8 million in construction financing, the project revitalized the former Henry W. Longfellow School into 80 affordable one and two-bedroom apartments for seniors aged 62 and above.

Preserving the architectural integrity of the original building, the redevelopment project incorporated modern amenities aimed at enhancing the social, physical, and mental well-being of its senior residents. Initially facing demolition in 2011, the intervention of The Cleveland Restoration Society led to the designation of the school as a historic landmark by the City of Cleveland, paving the way for its transformation by Vesta Corporation.

The Longfellow now offers a range of amenities tailored to seniors, including a dedicated fitness center, green spaces, and communal areas fostering community engagement. Additionally, the inclusion of a wellness room provides residents with access to confidential healthcare services conducted by third-party providers onsite, further enriching the living experience at Longfellow.
