KeyBank's Innovative Downtown Ithaca Branch Grand Opening and Community Support

08/31/2023

KeyBank celebrated the grand opening of its cutting-edge branch in Downtown Ithaca with a ribbon-cutting event. The newly established branch, situated at 604 South Meadow Street, welcomed prominent figures from both KeyBank and the local Ithaca community to partake in the festivities.

Marking the occasion, the KeyBank Foundation generously contributed $10,000 to Family and Children’s Service of Ithaca. This grant will play a crucial role in facilitating a diverse array of services, encompassing mental health care for children, adults, families, and seniors, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services benefiting over 50 local businesses, targeted outreach efforts directed at vulnerable youth and other community members requiring assistance, as well as community education aimed at professionals and the general public.

Steve Fournier, KeyBank Central New York Market President, expressed enthusiasm about the potential the new branch offers for fortifying the existing bonds within the Ithaca community. Fournier noted that this new branch underscores KeyBank's commitment to investing in Central New York and eagerly anticipates fostering closer connections with new neighbors, clients, and community collaborators.

Beyond providing comprehensive banking services, the advanced branch showcases an array of features such as digital video screens, a client hospitality area that can be repurposed for financial seminars and group presentations, a drive-up teller line, ATM, and complimentary parking. Spencer Nicoson, an experienced banker, assumes the role of branch manager at the new location. Nicoson emphasized that the Ithaca branch is specifically tailored to deliver a personalized banking experience, granting clients enhanced access to an extensive range of products and services.

In addition to aiding individuals and families in realizing their financial aspirations, the Ithaca branch extends its services to clients seeking to establish and expand businesses in the region.

To establish this new branch, KeyBank merged its existing branches at 300 North Tioga Street and 2315 North Triphammer Road into the South Meadow Street location. The North Tioga Street property was sold to Tompkins County in 2022 and temporarily leased by KeyBank. There are ongoing discussions about transforming the North Tioga Street property into a Tompkins County Center of Government facility.

Since 2017, KeyBank has dedicated over $599 million to investments in Central New York, channeling support toward affordable housing, community development initiatives, small business and home loans for low-to-moderate income individuals and communities, as well as transformative philanthropic endeavors.
