06/24/2023

KeyBank has generously donated $25,000 to Lan Su Chinese Gardens as a way to acknowledge and appreciate its valuable contributions to the local community. Nestled amidst the bustling streets of Portland, Lan Su Chinese Gardens serves as a serene sanctuary designed to inspire, engage, and educate not only the vibrant AANHPI community but also individuals from around the world, as they immerse themselves in the richness of authentic Chinese culture.

Since its establishment in 2000, Lan Su has emerged as one of Portland's most captivating attractions. Through KeyBank's support, the gardens will have the means to flourish and foster meaningful connections within the community.

According to Josh Lyons, KeyBank's market president for Oregon and S.W. Washington, as well as their commercial banking leader, "Lan Su provides a space where the contributions of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities to Chinese culture and society can be recognized and celebrated." KeyBank has built a reputation for its unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly for marginalized communities. They express great enthusiasm in supporting an organization like Lan Su, which plays a vital role in educating the public about Chinese culture and heritage.

KeyBank's overarching mission is to foster the prosperity of the community, and Lan Su Chinese Gardens stands as a beautiful and secure haven that promotes diversity and inclusivity for everyone, leaving an indelible mark on those who visit.

“The support KeyBank has given Lan Su is very meaningful to our organization,” said Patrick Tran, Lan Su’s Vice President of Philanthropy.

“We have big plans for the garden and support from our community helps us with those plans. It is a very exciting time for Portland and Lan Su.”
