KFC aims to bring down “17.8 metric tonnes of single-use plastics” within a year’s time.

Dailycsr.com – 30 June 2018 – On June 18, 2018, KFC made an announcement to reveal that the fast food restaurant company will stop giving “plastic caps and straws” while selling drinks in eighty four of its outlets in Singapore. This step forms part of the effort towards reducing “single-use plastics”.

KFC stopped supplying plastic straws and caps from Wednesday, June 20, 2018. However, it has continued to offer “plastic caps for takeaway drinks”. In a statement to a press release, KFC categorised the above mentioned move under its “No Straws Initiative”, which is expected to see a “reduction of 17.8 metric tonnes of single-use plastics in a year”.
