Shauna Rae, a survivor of childhood cancer, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was just six months old. Later, at the age of 16, she was diagnosed with pituitary dwarfism. Both of these conditions had a significant impact on her physically, but the effects extended beyond that, impacting her socially, emotionally, and mentally. Cancer and blood disorder diagnoses and survival come with both visible and invisible challenges. Aflac is dedicated to treating the entire child throughout their life — from active treatment to cancer survivorship. Over the past 28 years, we have raised and donated more than $170 million to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Much of this support has come from independent sales agents and Aflac employees.
However, we understand that we cannot do this alone. We invite you to join us in creating a brighter future for children and families dealing with cancer and blood disorders.
In recognition of National Childhood Cancer Awareness and Sickle Cell Awareness Month, Aflac lit up bridges in key locations across the country in gold and burgundy — the colors representing childhood cancer and sickle cell disease.
