International Paper’s First TNFD Report: Advancing Sustainability & Transparency

International Paper has published its inaugural TNFD report, underscoring our ongoing dedication to sustainability and transparency. By incorporating nature-related financial disclosures, we are reinforcing our pledge to contribute to a more sustainable future.

As a global frontrunner in sustainable packaging, International Paper (IP) employs over 65,000 people and operates across more than 30 countries to serve customers worldwide. With a rich history of forestland stewardship and as one of the largest users of wood fiber globally, we maintain a strong connection to natural ecosystems. We recognize that responsibly managed forests play a vital role in preserving biodiversity by providing habitats for a wide variety of plants and wildlife. Both water and forest resources are critical not only for our manufacturing processes but also for supporting healthy ecosystems at large.

Our sustainability reports have been developed in line with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and have consistently monitored our progress toward sustainability goals since 2019. This latest report aligns our disclosures with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework, improving how we communicate our efforts to safeguard nature.

The TNFD framework offers organizations a robust method to evaluate, report on, and address dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities related to nature. As an early adopter, we committed to releasing our first TNFD report for the 2024 fiscal year, a promise made public at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2024.
