Georgia-Pacific is delighted to announce that the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) has granted the company the 2023 Leadership in Sustainability Award for the innovative Save My Life Digital Work Process. This accolade acknowledges outstanding sustainability initiatives within the paper and wood products manufacturing sector. Notably, this is the first time the company has been recognized for its safety endeavors, following previous awards in 2021 for energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction, as well as innovations in recycling throughout the supply chain. Additionally, Georgia-Pacific received the 2022 Innovation in Sustainability Award for its Juno® technology.

The Save My Life process represents a significant departure from conventional permit-to-work procedures, leveraging technology to provide employees with crucial information precisely when needed. Developed collaboratively with our front-line staff, the process is grounded in our understanding of human behavior and our organization-wide application of Human and Organizational Performance. It transforms the permit-to-work paradigm from a "stop, think, and ask" approach to a "start when certain" model, ensuring the implementation of both preventive and recovery controls before commencing high-risk tasks.

Already, this innovative process has led to over 1,800 instances where additional controls were implemented before commencing work. It proves to be a pivotal tool in mitigating the risk of severe injuries, aligning with our commitment to the ambitious goal of zero injuries.

We are honored to receive the Leadership in Sustainability Award, reinforcing our dedication to the well-being of our employees. Our commitment to safety remains unwavering, as we persistently strive for zero injuries, emphasizing continuous progress in reducing serious injuries and fatalities.
