GLN International, the global cross-border payments platform subsidiary of Hana Bank led by CEO Seok Lee, has announced an expansion of its QR payment services across Mainland China through integration with the Weixin Pay network operated by Tenpay Global.
With this enhancement, GLN users can now make QR code payments not only at merchants connected to UnionPay International, but also throughout the extensive Weixin Pay merchant network commonly used across China. The broader coverage allows travelers to complete payments smoothly in numerous daily situations, including dining at street vendors, shopping, using public transportation, and paying for taxi services, creating a more convenient experience for visitors.
The new integration further develops GLN’s collaboration with UnionPay International, which began last year, and reinforces the company’s payment infrastructure throughout China. By linking both the UnionPay and Weixin Pay ecosystems, GLN has considerably widened QR payment access for international travelers.
Unlike many traditional overseas payment options that require separate local applications or physical cards, GLN enables customers to pay directly through familiar Korean banking and fintech apps already used domestically. The service is currently supported on platforms such as Purple GLN, Hana OneQ, Hana Money, Hana Card, and Toss, while additional integrations with Naver Pay and KB Star Banking are expected to roll out in phases.
“By broadening our QR payment coverage, travelers can enjoy a smoother and more flexible payment experience across many more everyday situations in China,” said Seok Lee, CEO of GLN International. “We will continue expanding our global payment network so users can enjoy the same easy and convenient payment experience abroad that they are accustomed to at home.”
