Entergy Technology Scholarship: Investing in Future Talent & Community Growth

05/14/2024

Entergy's IT department is proud to announce the recipients of the Entergy Technology Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year. Renee Anderson, Roderick Burke, and Roi Dupart, hailing from the New Orleans metro area, have been awarded $4,000 each towards their college education.

Initiated in 2022, the scholarship program aims to assist current college students from the New Orleans area pursuing degrees in technology-related fields like computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, and computer engineering. This marks the second round of scholarships awarded by Entergy, following the distribution of three scholarships for the 2023–24 school year.

Dupart, an alumna of Jefferson Virtual High School, is pursuing a degree in computer science at Loyola University New Orleans. Anderson, a graduate of Edna Karr High School, will be studying computer science at the same institution. Meanwhile, Burke, a graduate of Abramson Sci Academy, is focusing on mechanical engineering at Southern University and A&M College.

Expressing her excitement, Anderson remarked, "Being chosen as a 2024 Entergy scholarship recipient signifies the culmination of my hard work and dedication, promising numerous opportunities for personal and academic growth in the future."

Michael Rhymes, Entergy's Vice President and Chief Information Officer, highlighted the program's impact, stating, "By supporting students in our community, we are not only nurturing a local technology workforce but also transforming lives."

For the upcoming 2025-26 school year, registration for scholarship applications will commence early in the fall. Eligible students must be graduates of high schools within the greater New Orleans area and plan to attend one of the following universities:

  • Dillard University
  • Grambling State University
  • Loyola University New Orleans
  • Southern University and A&M College
