Entergy Supports Communities Through Driver’s License Restoration Clinic
Entergy recently took part in EmPOWERing Pro Bono Day, a sector-wide initiative that delivers free legal assistance to low-income and underserved individuals. Working alongside Jones Walker LLP, Baker Botts L.L.P., the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, and four local judges, Entergy organized a Driver’s License Restoration Clinic at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles in New Orleans. The event provided complimentary support to residents facing legal and administrative obstacles to reinstating their driver’s licenses.

“For many people, losing a driver’s license is not just a minor setback—it can disrupt employment, childcare, and everyday life,” said Daniel Falstad, Entergy’s senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. “Helping individuals walk away with practical solutions highlights the value of strong partnerships and their impact on the communities we serve.”

The clinic assisted 82 residents from Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, offering help with paperwork issues, outstanding fines, and legal concerns that often delay license restoration. Participants shared that regaining their licenses would ease financial and emotional stress, restore independence, and improve access to job opportunities. Many left the clinic feeling reassured and empowered.

“Having a valid driver’s license can be transformative for people who rely on transportation for work, education, and family responsibilities,” said Deanna Rodriguez, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans. “We remain dedicated to collaborating with community partners that help eliminate barriers to economic advancement.”

Entergy is recognized nationally for its leadership in corporate pro bono efforts. In 2018, it became the first U.S. company to appoint a full-time pro bono counsel and is still one of only three organizations with dedicated in-house pro bono leadership. Since 2012, Entergy attorneys have donated more than 22,000 hours of legal services, representing an in-kind contribution of over $6.1 million. These efforts address diverse needs, including estate planning for first responders, FEMA claims support, veterans’ benefits, family law assistance, homeownership affidavits, and legal aid for nonprofits as well as minority- and women-owned small businesses.

Entergy extends its gratitude to the volunteer legal professionals from Entergy, Jones Walker LLP, and Baker Botts L.L.P., the staff of the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, and the judges whose participation made the clinic possible. By continuing to collaborate with trusted community partners, Entergy remains committed to advancing financial stability and enhancing quality of life for its customers.
