Entergy Mississippi Offers $628K in Summer Bill Assistance for Vulnerable Customers

As summer reaches its height, Entergy Mississippi is stepping up with $628,000 in assistance for seniors and individuals with disabilities to help cover their utility bills. This financial support—sourced from employees, customers, and shareholders—is part of Entergy’s The Power to Care initiative. The company shared the announcement during its Beat the Heat Day events, where fans and energy-saving kits were distributed to families in need.

During the events, Entergy employees joined forces with local community action groups to hand out the free resources in Attala, Claiborne, Hinds, and Sunflower counties. In some areas, cooling stations were set up, and participants received practical energy-saving tips to reduce home cooling costs.

“Our region’s extreme heat often results in higher utility bills, which can be difficult for many of our customers,” said Valarie Mabry, a public affairs analyst at Entergy Mississippi. “We’re grateful to our community partners for helping us deliver these essential resources to the people who need them most.”

Organizations supporting Beat the Heat Day included the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club in Attala County, AJFC Community Action Agency in Claiborne, New Horizon Ministries in Hinds, and Boss Lady Workforce Development in Sunflower.

The energy efficiency kits—featuring items like LED bulbs, advanced power strips, faucet aerators, and V-seal weatherstripping—combined with strategies such as adjusting thermostats and using fans, can help households save up to $300 annually.

Customers interested in supporting others in their community can donate to The Power to Care program through the myEntergy app, either by making a one-time bank draft donation or adding a recurring contribution to their monthly bill. Every dollar goes directly toward helping customers pay their energy bills, with no portion used for fundraising or administrative costs. Contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law, and a donation summary is included with January bills for tax filing purposes.
