Education has the power to transform lives, offering individuals the tools for personal growth and fostering long-term progress within society. Mary Kay China, in partnership with the Zhejiang Xin Hua Compassion Education Foundation (XHEF), is breaking down obstacles to quality education through the “Pearl Class” initiative. This program focuses on supporting high school girls from rural areas who face financial challenges that prevent them from accessing adequate schooling.

In late 2024, Mary Kay China celebrated the launch of its third Pearl Class at Shaya County High School No. 2, alongside teachers, students, and XHEF representatives. This event highlights Mary Kay China’s ongoing dedication to expanding educational opportunities for girls and young women in underserved regions.

Closing Gaps and Creating Opportunities
The Pearl Class project, developed in collaboration with XHEF’s “Hope for Pearl” public welfare initiative, offers multi-year scholarships to academically promising high school girls. These scholarships cover tuition fees, accommodation, and include a living allowance totaling 7,500 RMB across three years (2,500 RMB per year).

Since their partnership began in 2022, Mary Kay China and XHEF have supported 93 students through this program, welcoming 42 new participants in 2024. In addition to financial aid, the initiative provides mentorship, with Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants volunteering to guide and inspire the students, offering support and essential life skills throughout their education.

At the 2024 opening ceremony in Shaya, Mary Kay volunteers greeted the new students with class cards and flags.

“This is the start of our dreams,” shared Wang Lin, a Pearl Class student. “With gratitude and determination, we will strive toward our goals and give back to our school and community through our efforts.”

Mary Kay China views this initiative as part of a larger mission to empower girls and women—not only through financial means but by fostering confidence, leadership, and ambition.

“My lifelong dream has been to establish a Hope Primary School in honor of my mother,” said Aziguli Aishan, a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant and mentor in the Pearl Class program. “Being able to support students on their high school journey has been incredibly rewarding.”

Since launching its first women-centered philanthropic project in China in 2001, Mary Kay China has supported numerous programs focused on women’s health, education, and empowerment, positively impacting more than 250,000 women to date.

The Pearl Class project exemplifies Mary Kay China’s enduring commitment to opening doors for opportunity—helping one student at a time to build a fairer future, where every girl can pursue education, unlock her potential, and contribute meaningfully to her community.
