Empowering Communities: Entergy's Impactful Initiatives Combat Food Insecurity and Promote Energy Efficiency

02/19/2024

Entergy staff recently united to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s enduring legacy through various community service events spanning our service regions. Aligned in our dedication to philanthropy, our team collaborated with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and Healthy to assemble 200,000 meals for Louisiana families grappling with food insecurity. This joint initiative not only fulfilled our objective of aiding our clientele, neighbors, and families in distress but also significantly alleviated hunger across Louisiana.

Patty Riddlebarger, Entergy's Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, highlighted the dire circumstances faced by many Louisiana households, with over 50 percent unable to cover basic survival expenses. She emphasized Entergy's commitment to combating food insecurity and expressed pride in partnering with community allies and Blue Cross for statewide service events.

Furthermore, Entergy Mississippi partnered with Boss Lady Workforce Transportation to distribute energy efficiency kits to over 400 customers, aligning with Dr. King's legacy of service and empowerment.

Quoting Dr. King's poignant words, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" Entergy underscores the belief in community-driven change and its transformative impact on those in need.

For the eighth consecutive year, Entergy proudly received recognition as a 2023 honoree of The Civic 50, a testament to the unwavering dedication and enthusiasm of our employees in uplifting the lives of our customers and neighbors in crisis.
