02/28/2024

Duke Energy has been honored by Fortune magazine as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies for 2024. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the company has secured a spot on this prestigious list. Notably, Duke Energy ranks among the top four gas and electric utilities for the third year running.

Lynn Good, Duke Energy’s chair, president, and CEO, expressed her pride in this achievement: “Providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy is foundational to serving our customers and communities. It is an honor for Duke Energy to be recognized by industry peers, directors, and analysts in Fortune’s list of World’s Most Admired Companies. This recognition belongs to the talented, dedicated employees who deliver for our customers every day as we lead one of the nation’s largest energy transitions.”

The rankings are determined through independent surveys of executives, directors, and industry analysts. Companies are evaluated across nine key attributes, including innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services, and global competitiveness.

Duke Energy’s inclusion on the 2024 World’s Most Admired Companies list complements the company’s recent recognition as one of the top 100 Most JUST Companies.

Here are the recent highlights of Duke Energy’s performance:
Community Support: Duke Energy and its foundation have invested over $70 million since the start of 2021 to assist nonprofits and other programs dedicated to helping those in need. This support includes affordability-focused grants from the Duke Energy Foundation, utility bill payment assistance for low-income customers, and energy efficiency initiatives. Grid Reliability: Duke Energy is actively modernizing and strengthening the nation’s largest investor-owned grid. Notably, during Hurricane Idalia, self-healing grid technologies prevented over 7 million customer outage minutes in Florida. Clean Energy Transition: The company is on track to achieve 30,000 megawatts of owned, operated, or contracted renewables on its system by 2035.
