Duke Energy Foundation’s Philanthropic Contributions and Duke Energy Indiana’s Service Overview

10/30/2023

Employees at the Cayuga, Edwardsport, and Gibson Stations are distributing $60,000 in grants from the Duke Energy Foundation to eight charities in their local communities. Stan Pinegar, the president of Duke Energy Indiana, expressed pride in the employees’ commitment to their communities and their support for a variety of causes that positively impact the lives of those they serve.

Each power plant’s employees were given the opportunity to nominate charities they wished to support. A committee of plant management and employees then decided which organizations would receive Foundation funds. Bill Luke, vice president of Midwest generation at Duke Energy, highlighted that many employees contribute their skills and time to various community causes outside of work.

Duke Energy employees have a history of supporting their communities through financial contributions and volunteer work. Last year, Duke Energy Indiana’s employees and retirees donated nearly $360,000 to charities and volunteered almost 11,900 hours.

Jeremy Price, technical and maintenance manager at Cayuga Station, emphasized the importance of giving back to the communities they are part of. He expressed excitement about how these funds will benefit their neighbors and their local areas.

The following organizations received grants from Cayuga Station employees:
Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department – $5,000 Ivy Tech Community College – $5,000 Parke County Community Foundation – $5,000 Vermillion County Community Improvement Fund – $5,000
Edwardsport Station employees awarded grants to:
City of Bicknell – $10,000 North Knox Social Ministries – $10,000
