Driving a Sustainable Energy Future: Baker Hughes' Earth Day Impact

04/30/2025

Earth Day serves as an important reminder of the shared responsibility we all hold—individuals, businesses, and the broader energy sector—to advance toward a more sustainable energy landscape.

This Earth Day, I’m proud to recognize the remarkable efforts of our teams at Baker Hughes, who are actively contributing to a more sustainable future for energy.

This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlights both the responsibility and the opportunity we have—to innovate, take ownership, and lead real, impactful change in how energy is generated and used.

Our employees are stepping up in meaningful ways—from developing low-carbon solutions to engaging in community support and environmental projects.

As a company, we’re committed to minimizing our environmental impact, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving purposeful innovation. A great example is our Carbon Out initiative, which empowers teams to make informed energy decisions that reduce emissions and embed sustainability into daily operations.

Some standout efforts from the Carbon Out program include:
Saudi Arabia: Connecting to the local power grid in place of diesel generators, eliminating the use of 365,000 gallons of fuel. Italy: Launching a shuttle service to cut down on emissions from commuting and improve safety for employees. The Netherlands: Using mobile recompression to prevent gas flaring, reducing vented emissions by 94%. Louisiana: Joining a renewable energy program that brought emissions down by 89% at one site. Suzhou, China: Installing solar panels that now supply over a third of the power needs at one facility.
Through initiatives like Carbon Out, we are integrating sustainability into our everyday operations and accelerating our journey toward a lower-carbon future.

Meaningful change requires more than good intentions—it demands accountability. Stay tuned for the release of our upcoming Corporate Sustainability Report, where we’ll share the progress we’re making in support of our people, our planet, and our values.
