Crown Holdings, Inc. has published its 2024 Sustainability Report, “Built to Last,” emphasizing its focus on building a future-ready and resilient organization. The report details the company’s progress toward its Twentyby30™ initiative, which sets global sustainability objectives around lowering greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water, cutting waste, improving workplace safety, strengthening employee engagement, and ensuring responsible sourcing of materials. Crown also continues to champion recycling and the principles of a circular economy.
“Our global team’s commitment to shaping a more sustainable future enables us to achieve meaningful progress across our initiatives centered on innovation, accountability, and community involvement,” said Timothy Donahue, Chairman, President, and CEO of Crown Holdings. “Sustainability is about creating both a business and an environment that can withstand future challenges, and our stakeholders depend on our openness as we work toward that vision.”
The Twentyby30™ program sets out 20 measurable targets to be achieved by 2030 or earlier. With the initiative nearing its midpoint, the latest report highlights major advancements, including enhanced recycling advocacy. Crown supported the Global Aluminium Can Sustainability Summit, took part in Climate Week NYC, and continues to push for higher recycling rates of aluminum beverage cans worldwide.
“Sustainability at Crown is not just about compliance—it’s about delivering long-term value for both our company and the communities we serve,” said John M. Rost, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Technology, Global Sustainability, and Regulatory Affairs. “By embedding sustainable practices into our operations, we’re able to lower costs, improve efficiency, and spark innovation across the organization.”
The report aligns with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Core Standard, upholds the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles, and maps Crown’s performance against the SASB Containers & Packaging Standard as well as key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
