BeyondTrucks Launches AI-Powered RateAgents for Smarter Fleet Pricing

BeyondTrucks, a company offering an AI-driven platform for dispatch planning and fleet management, has unveiled an expansion of its embedded artificial intelligence features with the introduction of BeyondTrucks RateAgents.

Managing rate tables has long been a complex issue for large fleets, as shippers and carriers use varied methods to calculate transportation costs. To tackle this challenge, RateAgents introduces an innovative coding solution that enables carriers to describe their pricing logic in simple, everyday language and instantly convert it into functional software.

“Traditional transportation management system providers have spent years developing rating tools,” said CEO Hans Galland. “Despite this, many carriers still depend on spreadsheets, costly custom-built solutions, or standalone systems to handle rate tables. With the launch of our generative AI-powered rating agent, we’re changing that dynamic.”

Powered by large language model (LLM) technology, RateAgents translates plain-language descriptions of rate formulas into executable code within the BeyondTrucks platform. Users can review and test the generated output before applying it directly to their rate structures.

As the first offering in a planned suite of AI agents, RateAgents initially focuses on fuel surcharge (FSC) calculations—an area where approaches vary widely across customers and have traditionally been difficult to standardize.

Previously, no transportation management system could accommodate every variation of FSC calculations, leaving carriers to either manually compute charges or invest in custom development. With RateAgents, even non-technical users can now create and manage these calculations without specialized coding expertise.

Galland noted that BeyondTrucks serves carriers with operations deeply integrated into their customers’ supply chains, often requiring intricate pricing models tied to specific activities. This launch reflects a broader strategy to make the platform more flexible by shifting technical capabilities closer to operational teams who best understand the business.

He added that LLM-based coding tools are redefining what enterprise software can achieve. Rather than relying on expensive custom engineering services offered by traditional providers, BeyondTrucks is empowering users directly by putting advanced capabilities into the hands of those managing day-to-day operations.
