Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, has been included in the 2026 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking, placing first among companies in the energy sector and 37th overall.
The annual ranking evaluates the largest publicly traded companies in the United States and has recognized corporate leaders in areas such as non-financial reporting and positive contributions to employees, communities, and the environment since its launch in 1999.
Now administered by 3BL, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking uses a methodology that continues to evolve through collaboration with ISS STOXX and input from a broad range of stakeholders. Fewer than one in five companies in the Russell 1000 have earned a place on the list during the past five years.

Progress on Emissions Reduction
Baker Hughes reported significant progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in 2025. The company achieved a 36.9% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions compared with its 2019 baseline, representing its largest reduction to date.
Greater use of renewable energy, together with improvements in operational efficiency, helped reduce combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from company facilities by 49.0% compared with the 2019 baseline.
The company's community engagement efforts also continued during the year. In 2025, Baker Hughes supported more than 900 charitable organizations worldwide, while over 2,100 employees volunteered more than 45,000 hours in communities where the company operates.
Recognition for Transparency
Charlie Wilkie, CEO of 3BL, said the companies recognized in the ranking demonstrated a commitment to transparency, including during periods when greater disclosure presented additional challenges.
Now in its 28th year, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking is described by 3BL as the longest-running assessment of companies in the Russell 1000 Index based entirely on publicly available information. Companies cannot lobby or pay to secure a position on the list.
How the 2026 Ranking Is Determined
The 2026 methodology evaluates 221 individual factors across seven pillars, covering areas that include climate change, employee relations, and human rights.
Unlike rankings that may rely on private submissions, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens assessment uses information that is publicly available. Companies are not charged a fee to be considered.
For the 2026 ranking, the underlying data and information were published between June 2025 and June 2026.
