In just a few months, corporate supporters of the Arbor Day Foundation have pledged a total of $2.35 million toward its effort to plant 10 million trees in regions hard hit by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Truist Charitable Fund, MathWorks, Target, and Bank of America all joined the recovery campaign after its launch in late October.
“We recognized the importance of committing to the long-term restoration after Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and we clearly weren’t alone,” said Dan Lambe, CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Amid widespread destruction, these organizations have chosen to invest in a brighter tomorrow. With their guidance and the work of our regional planting partners, we’re able to fast-track tree recovery, bolster community resilience, and renew hope.”
These recent contributions from Truist Charitable Fund, MathWorks, Target, and Bank of America supplement each company’s ongoing Arbor Day Foundation projects. Thanks to their backing, planting began last fall and will continue through this spring in affected areas such as Asheville, North Carolina.
Over the next four years, the Arbor Day Foundation plans to sow 10 million trees across communities and forests in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Since Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, the Foundation has played a central role in helping disaster-stricken regions rebound—distributing and planting millions of trees in the aftermath of hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and floods.
With much work still ahead, the Foundation continues to seek support as it strives to restore and revitalize the landscapes and communities devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
