AT&T Announces The Invitation For This Year’s Inventor’s Challenge

Students are encouraged to submit their innovative ideas that address social, communal or global issues.

Dailycsr.com – 27 January 2017 – The Social Innovation’s Director at AT&T, Anne Wintroub, informed that the company for second consecutive year continues to be with the “Imagination Foundation” and extends an invitation to “students of all ages” starting from “pre-k to high school” to create “something amazing” which would target either a “specific problem” or a community need with the help of available tools.
Wintroub has learnt from her kids that “they see things from a whole different perspective”, whereby it is her belief that in order to tackle the challenging issued faced by the communities one needs to sometimes adopt “a child’s ingenuity”. Having said that, Anne Wintroub added that:
“That’s the guiding premise of the Inventor’s Challenge, an opportunity for kids of all ages to create novel, imaginative and perhaps even viable solutions to challenges they see in their schools, communities and the world”.
In the previous year’s event over three hundred fifty student from “New York City to Nairobi, Kenya” participated and presented their “amazing ideas” for solving various “issues that impact their schools, communities and world”, like “connecting people with disabilities to local places that offer accessibility features”, or “developing devices” that would track the water requirement of plants for reducing water wastage.
Furthermore, she added:
“One of the most exciting aspects of the Inventor’s Challenge is the way the program integrates science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) alongside critical 21st century skills. The concepts cultivated by the Inventor’s Challenge — imagination, problem-solving, teamwork, optimism, patience, and the ability to experiment and take risks — are critical to student success in the 21st century. They’re also the skills we look for every day at AT&T”.
Young builders or scientists should be encouraged to submit their “best and brightest ideas” to this year’s challenge. The said challenge will continue for an entire month during which “young inventors” will be sharing their creative work in their neighbourhood, online and school, whereby the starting date is on the 24th of February 2017.
Expressing her excitement, Wintroub stated:
“I can’t wait to see what kind of amazing projects students create for this year’s Inventor’s Challenge! They are sure to be inspiring”.
