AMD Earth Day: Global Teams Unite for Environmental Action
When Earth Day called for action to support our planet, AMD employees worldwide answered the call. Guided by AMD Community Affairs Volunteer Liaisons and Go Green Employee Resource Groups (ERG), teams across 27 global sites organized events throughout April and May to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about sustainability issues.
While these events are ongoing until the end of the month, over 1,450 AMD employees have already volunteered their time for company-sponsored activities. In North America, employees registered to receive plants or tree saplings from the nonprofit partner Neighborhood Forest. Consequently, AMD donated an extra 1,250 plants and tree saplings for children through Neighborhood Forest's Earth Day educational programs. In India, our Bangalore and Hyderabad sites collected used items for MI Secunderabad, an NGO employing women from urban slums in a recycling unit, gathering over 1,700 lbs. of clothes, books, and toys.
Across Europe, teams in Cambridge, Dublin, Edinburgh, and Iasi hosted volunteer days to maintain community spaces, removing invasive species, weeding, enhancing trails, and planting trees. The Penang team plans to reduce single-plastic use by organizing an educational event later this month and distributing reusable tote bags.
In Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Singapore, events included turning dead lightbulbs into moss plants, creating miniature fern landscapes while discussing issues affecting tropical rainforests, and offering tours of Waste to Energy Incineration plants to educate on solid waste reduction.

With over 35 Earth Day activities held globally, the impact has been substantial, and the dedication to our planet's well-being remains unwavering.
