Empowering Detroit Families: Frito-Lay and Feed the Children's Impactful Initiative Addresses Childhood Hunger and Provides Vital Resources
In partnership with Feed the Children and Detroit Public Schools, Frito-Lay actively participated in a drive-thru food distribution event earlier this autumn, benefitting 400 students and their families. In a period where 1 in 6 U.S. children grapples with food insecurity, this endeavor holds significant importance. Attendees at the event were provided with a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box containing essential household items, a 5-pound box of personal care products, and additional contributions from Frito-Lay, Quaker, PepsiCo beverages, and Kroger.

Given the persistent challenges faced by lower-income families due to escalating prices and economic uncertainties, the collaborative effort assumes heightened importance. This event marked the commencement of the fourth consecutive year of the Building the Future Together program, a joint initiative established by Frito-Lay and Feed the Children to address childhood hunger and provide support to students and families in underserved communities. Across seven markets in the U.S., including Detroit, this program supplies crucial resources such as shelf-stable food items, school supplies, personal care products, and books to school districts. The aim is to ensure that young minds receive the nourishment and tools necessary for academic success and overall well-being. Since its inception, the program has aided nearly 500 schools, delivering close to 1.5 million pounds of food and resources to families in need.
