Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. hosted its 2026 Global Mining Machinery Expo in Changsha on May 16, attracting more than 500 customers and industry partners from nearly 30 countries and regions to explore the company’s newest mining technologies and equipment solutions.

Held at the Earthmoving Machinery Park within Zoomlion Smart City, the expo showcased the company’s latest developments in three major areas: high-capacity equipment for open-pit mining, environmentally friendly electric and hybrid machinery, and intelligent autonomous haulage and mine management technologies.

Among the featured products were three flagship machines — the ZWL360 hybrid wheeled loader, the ZTE450HEV hybrid electric-drive mining truck, and the ZE1650G dual-engine mining excavator.

The ZWL360, recognized as the world’s largest hybrid wheeled loader, offers a 36-ton rated load capacity and a combined power output of 1,495 kilowatts. According to the company, it reduces energy use by more than 15% compared with similar models. The ZTE450HEV mining truck supports a payload of 240 tons and utilizes a diesel-electric propulsion system equipped with energy recovery technology. Meanwhile, the ZE1650G excavator features dual QSM15 engines working together to deliver reliable performance in demanding mining environments.

Zoomlion also presented over 40 new-energy mining machines and related components, including the ZT160HEV hybrid mining truck and the ZT165EV fully electric mining truck. These electric and hybrid solutions are currently operating in numerous mining sites worldwide, with some machines surpassing 8,000 operating hours.

During the expo, the company highlighted several proprietary green technologies, including the ZM-i Adaptive Super Energy Management System. Unlike traditional hybrid systems that alternate between diesel and electric power, this “true hybrid” setup allows both the diesel engine and electric motor to operate simultaneously during heavy workloads. Internal testing showed the technology can lower fuel consumption by 20% while boosting operational efficiency by 11.2%.

Autonomous mining transportation was another key attraction at the event. Zoomlion revealed that nearly 100 driverless mining trucks are already operating at multiple sites across China, capable of autonomous driving, obstacle detection, and coordinated interaction with excavators. Live demonstrations at the expo featured the ZE985G remote-controlled excavator working together with the ZT118EV electric mining truck and the ZT160HEV hybrid truck in a synchronized dig-load-haul operation combining remote control and autonomous transport.

The company additionally launched two upgraded digital platforms — Mine Smart Supervision Platform 2.0 and Mine Operation & Diagnosis Platform 2.0. These cloud-connected systems collect and analyze equipment data in real time to support monitoring, predictive maintenance, and fault diagnostics.

Zoomlion also introduced an intelligent mine evaluation system designed to assess site conditions, simulate energy usage, and recommend tailored equipment configurations for individual mining operations. The solution has already been implemented in more than 150 mines and used to develop over 200 customized mining project plans.

According to Yuan Ye, vice president of Zoomlion, the company plans to continue strengthening its technological capabilities while expanding innovation and collaboration with mining customers around the world.

At Agritechnica 2025, New Holland—part of the CNH group—is introducing a full-size hybrid telehandler prototype that sets a new benchmark for practical, low-emission machinery on farms. The concept delivers the independence and strength farmers expect, without the limited operating time of battery-only units or the fossil-fuel dependence of conventional diesel models.

With lift capabilities of 7–9 meters and 4.2 tonnes, and a pioneering dual-power system that combines electricity with natural gas, this prototype becomes the first telehandler built specifically to meet the everyday demands of agriculture. It delivers the same lift performance, power, and operational freedom typically found in mid-size diesel handlers.

Currently undergoing field trials, the machine uses an electric drive paired with an auxiliary battery and electric power module. It can run purely on electricity for up to four hours during medium-to-heavy work, and up to six hours on lighter tasks. When additional force is required, an FPT F28 four-cylinder methane engine steps in, supplying extra power while also recharging the battery. Fast-charging compatibility adds even more operational flexibility.

This electric–methane setup enables full-day operation without traditional refueling or extended charging breaks. Farms generating their own electricity—via solar arrays or anaerobic digestion (AD) plants—can use that renewable power to charge the machine. AD plants producing methane from crops or farm waste can even directly fuel the telehandler through technology developed by Bennamann, a company majority-owned by CNH.

The 2.8-liter engine delivers 75 kW (100 hp) at a constant speed to boost fuel efficiency and reduce servicing needs. The system provides 84 kW (112 hp) of power for hydraulic functions and 115 kW (154 hp) for traction. A 70 kWh battery supplies energy in both hybrid mode—where the engine operates at peak efficiency—and in full-electric operation.

Testing has shown energy savings of up to 70% when compared with diesel models, along with a 30% improvement in performance, efficiency, and operating endurance during typical handling tasks.

The electric drivetrain also boosts productivity: traction and attachment functions operate independently, shuttle response can be tailored, and the reduced number of moving parts lowers vibration while improving reliability and operator comfort. The machine also operates quietly and without emissions, benefiting both people and animals—especially in enclosed livestock environments.
