Duke Energy has chosen three locations in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky for its 2025 Site Readiness Program, an initiative designed to prepare high-potential business and industrial sites for future economic development and to promote them nationwide to companies seeking to launch, expand, or relocate their operations.

Driving growth in Ohio and Kentucky:
Since 2010, Duke Energy’s Site Readiness Program has assessed 42 sites across Ohio and Kentucky. Of those, 20 companies have established or expanded their operations on properties that participated in the program. Collectively, these projects represent more than $2 billion in capital investments and have created over 5,400 new jobs in the two states. Some notable companies that have benefited from the program include Coca-Cola, Carvana, Shape Corp., and Niagara Bottling.

About the program:
The Site Readiness Program is a catalyst for local economic growth, helping communities identify what improvements and strategies are needed to make their sites more competitive and appealing to potential investors. This initiative ultimately generates new employment opportunities and expands the local tax base.

To deliver these results, Duke Energy collaborates with Site Selection Group, Bayer Becker, REDI Cincinnati, and the BE NKY Growth Partnership, alongside local governments and utility partners.

What leaders are saying:

Amy Spiller, president of Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky, emphasized the program’s importance:
“Economic development is key to the future prosperity of our region. The Site Readiness Program demonstrates our commitment to proactive investment that drives community growth. We’re proud to work alongside local partners to attract more jobs and make Greater Cincinnati an even better place to live and work.”

Kimm Lauterbach, president and CEO of REDI Cincinnati, added:
“Duke Energy’s Site Readiness Program accelerates development opportunities and ensures that our communities are ready to compete nationally. We value Duke Energy’s continued leadership and dedication to strengthening Cincinnati’s economy.”

Sites selected for 2025:

Frick Family Farms – Monroe, Ohio (Butler County)

Union Ren Farms – Middletown, Ohio (Warren County)

Commonwealth Commerce Center – Northern Kentucky (Pendleton County)

For 21 consecutive years, Duke Energy’s economic development efforts have earned recognition from Site Selection magazine, which included the company in its annual list of “Top Utilities in Economic Development.” In 2024 alone, Duke Energy helped attract $548 million in new capital investment and created over 1,000 jobs across Ohio and Kentucky.

So as to fight obesity and promote a healthy lifestyle, Coca-Cola, Upstate Parent Magazine and CVS/Pharmacy have come together and have put up a fitness challenge for the residents of South Carolina.

For the second year in a row, Coca-Cola has partnered with CVS and Upstate Parent Magazine, in an effort to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. Together, they have created an 8 week program wherein residents of South Carolina are challenged to go to the outdoors and get active. In order to implement this fitness program Coca-Cola, has invested more than $125,000.

The program provides prizes for its participants who need to sign up so as to be eligible to win them. Based on their participation, resident families of South Carolina, can earn points to win prizes during the 8-week long period, between 5th May-29th of June. Enthusiastic participants can get free information, tips, expert advice and blogs from the Upstate Parent.

Emily Scurry, Upstate Parent’s Marketing Brand Manager, said “Upstate Parent knows that a critical component to happy, healthy kids is daily exercise and proper nutrition. And that’s why we’re so excited to participate again in the Fit Family Challenge because it brings this important message to families throughout South Carolina in a fun and engaging way.”

Alison Patient, Coca-Cola’s Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, chipped in saying, “The Fit Family Challenge is just one more example from The Coca-Cola Company that shows our commitment to dealing with today’s important issues. We believe that to seriously address obesity, there needs to be an open and honest dialogue, coupled with a comprehensive approach toward promoting nutrition and physical exercise. In 2014, more than 10,000 South Carolinians participated in the Fit Family Challenge logging more than 2.6 million minutes of activity. In 2015 we’re challenging South Carolina residents of all ages to increase their commitment to a healthy active lifestyle by exercising more than 3 million minutes.”

David Purdy from CVS/Pharmacy also supported the same point of view stating that, “CVS/pharmacy is committed to helping people on their path to better health, so we are pleased to support the Fit Family Challenge by raising awareness about the importance of exercise, a well-balanced diet and getting enough rest.”

“A healthy lifestyle starts with proper nutrition and daily exercise,” said Rozalynn Goodwin, vice president for community engagement for the South Carolina Hospital Association. She went on to add, “The South Carolina Hospital Association applauds and supports the Fit Family Challenge brought to you by Upstate Parent and Coca-Cola as this program helps to raise awareness of this critical issue.”
References:
http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20150506005258/en#.VVCiCY6qqko
