Tell us your story! What’s your background, and how did your journey at GoDaddy begin?
I've always been passionate about technology, building meaningful connections, and solving complex business challenges with creative thinking. With a foundation in business administration and over ten years of experience across sales, marketing, and customer engagement, my career path has naturally steered toward roles that merge people with innovative tech solutions.

I joined GoDaddy seven years ago as a Senior Marketing Specialist, where I focused on brand engagement and strengthening partnerships with our agency collaborators. After three years in that role, I found myself craving a new challenge—something that would allow me to lean further into strategy and problem-solving. I had open conversations with my leaders, who supported my career development and encouraged me to explore a role within the Commerce organization. That led me to my current position as a Distribution Relationship Manager, where I now get to refine distribution strategies and work closely with internal teams, partners, and resellers—a role that continues to be both fulfilling and dynamic.

What kinds of challenges does your team tackle?
Our team ensures that GoDaddy’s commerce resellers have the resources and support they need post-sale. We address key operational challenges such as product distribution efficiency, inventory management, and vendor alignment. Through refining internal processes and enhancing partnerships, we aim to deliver a seamless experience that empowers entrepreneurs to access the tools they need to thrive online.

But it’s not just about the logistics—we’re also focused on strengthening communication. By fostering clearer, more aligned conversations between internal teams, vendors, and customers, we help keep operations running smoothly from end to end.

How do you stay driven and inspired in your role?
What motivates me most is seeing the tangible impact our work has on small business owners and entrepreneurs. Helping them grow their ventures by simplifying access to technology gives my work deep meaning. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, I’ve seen firsthand how GoDaddy’s solutions make business more accessible—and I’m proud to be part of that mission.

I’m also energized by collaboration. Working with passionate colleagues and learning from their experiences keeps me on my toes. I stay inspired by continuously setting personal and professional goals that align with my curiosity and drive for innovation, keeping me open to new ideas and challenges.

What stands out to you about GoDaddy’s company culture?
GoDaddy creates an environment where innovation, inclusion, and collaboration thrive. I really value how employees are encouraged to take initiative and create lasting impact.

The company’s focus on continuous development is another standout—whether it’s mentorship, leadership programs, or education support, there are so many ways to grow here. I’ve personally taken advantage of these resources to expand my skills and stay challenged.

What truly sets GoDaddy apart, though, is the people. The support and camaraderie across teams make every challenge feel like a shared mission. It's inspiring to be surrounded by such a driven, thoughtful community.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I love spending quality time with my son—especially traveling to visit family across different states. We're always up for a new adventure when our schedules align. I'm also a big sports fan and enjoy cheering on the Houston Dynamo with my son, as well as going to concerts with friends. I’m especially excited to catch Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming tour in Inglewood, California!

I have been with GoDaddy for nearly nine years, leading the Global Research and Insights Team (GRIT). As a Center of Excellence, we provide valuable insights that shape strategy and business decisions across the company. In my first year, I joined GoDaddy Women in Tech (GDWIT) because I was passionate about supporting women within our organization. It was also a fantastic way to connect with colleagues.

When we had an office in Santa Clara, California, I took on the role of GDWIT leader for that location, organizing events and inviting guest speakers. One of my favorite gatherings was an afternoon tea, which saw an incredible turnout—after all, who can resist tea sandwiches, scones, and cookies?

My former manager, Laura Messerschmitt, who serves as GDWIT’s Executive Sponsor, encouraged me to get more involved. Over time, my engagement deepened, and I joined the leadership council to help plan events. I later advanced to Co-Vice President and now proudly serve as Co-President. GDWIT has consistently been a valuable resource for both its members and the company, and I am honored to contribute to such an impactful Employee Resource Group.

What led you to a career in the tech industry?
My journey into tech was unexpected. While completing my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at UC Berkeley, specializing in Quantitative Methods, I initially envisioned a career in academia. However, an internship opportunity arose at Tandem Computers within their Quality Improvement team, offering a compelling salary.

I started working part-time and was captivated by the fast-paced decision-making—so different from the lengthy academic research process. My manager at Tandem, an incredible woman, became a mentor to me. Later, at Cadence Design Systems, I encountered another inspiring female leader who guided me further. These experiences solidified my path in the tech industry.

What do you value most about GoDaddy’s company culture?
GoDaddy’s inclusivity and commitment to diversity are aspects I truly appreciate. The culture is highly collaborative, and I feel fortunate to work with a supportive team that always steps up for one another. Additionally, GoDaddy prioritizes work-life balance, and initiatives like Wellness Days reflect this commitment.

What advice would you give to employees interested in GDWIT?
I strongly encourage joining GDWIT! Being part of this group allows you to network with colleagues who share a passion for empowering women in technology. Members have access to insightful sessions, webinars, wellness events, mentorship opportunities, and more. It’s a great way to grow personally and professionally while contributing to a meaningful cause.

What changes do you hope to see for women in tech?
I hope to see more women stepping into senior leadership roles across the tech industry. At GoDaddy, we are fortunate to have many strong female leaders, and through GDWIT events, we’ve had the privilege of hearing their experiences and advice. Their stories provide both inspiration and practical guidance for women at various stages in their careers.

What are your interests outside of work?
I love traveling, baking, and spending time with my family—my husband, Fred, and our 24-year-old twin sons, Daniel and Gabriel. Every year, I bake holiday cookies for family, friends, and my amazing GRIT team leaders. I typically make around nine different recipes, with multiple batches of each, resulting in hundreds of cookies! As for travel, our recent adventures have taken us to Vietnam and Cambodia, Costa Rica, Egypt, and Portugal, though Australia remains my favorite destination.

Want to learn more about life at GoDaddy?
Follow our GoDaddy Life social pages to meet our team, explore our company culture—including our teams, ERGs, and locations—discover career opportunities, and more. You’re more than just your day job, so come grow your career with us!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your career journey at GoDaddy.
I’ve always been passionate about IT, which is what inspired me to start my career in Customer Support. I saw the need for someone to help address everyday technical challenges, and that’s where my journey began. Over time, I transitioned to technical support, where I could tackle more complex issues and continue honing my skills.

One of the most pivotal moments in my career was joining GoDaddy. It has been an incredible experience that not only aligns with my passion but also supports me in achieving both professional and personal milestones, particularly as a single mom.

Balancing work, solving technical problems, and being a role model for my son has been challenging, but it has taught me the importance of resilience and determination. Each obstacle has been an opportunity to grow and prove that persistence leads to success.

What real-life problems does your team solve?
At GoDaddy, we help turn the aspirations of small business owners into reality. Our team assists customers in choosing the right tools to ensure their websites are secure, fast, and capable of growth. Since many of these sites are the primary income source for our customers, we are committed to their success, ensuring their online presence runs seamlessly.

We believe that every small business deserves the chance to thrive. Beyond providing technical support, we offer guidance, encouragement, and a sense of community. Our team is deeply dedicated to supporting our customers' dreams because their success is important, no matter where they begin.

I am incredibly proud to be part of a team that works tirelessly to address the challenges our customers face every day. The Hosting and Sales Serbia team exemplifies this dedication.

What have you learned about yourself through the projects you have worked on?
Working on various projects has helped me become more patient and empathetic when addressing customer concerns. My technical skills have grown significantly, boosting my confidence in handling complex challenges.

Additionally, I’ve taken on more responsibilities, fully aware that the solutions I provide can directly impact real businesses. This growth wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support and encouragement of my team and supervisor, who have empowered me to approach challenges with greater confidence and courage.

What advice would you give to someone starting on the Care Team?
When you join the Care Team, you’ll quickly realize you’re never alone. There’s an incredible support system in place, and you’ll feel like part of a community from day one. You’ll be respected, valued, and surrounded by people who are there to help when things get tough.
My biggest piece of advice? Don’t give up when you face challenges. Those moments are where true growth happens. Lean on your team, ask questions, and remember that you’re not just solving problems—you’re making a meaningful difference for others every day.

What aspects of GoDaddy's company culture do you appreciate the most?
What stands out most about GoDaddy’s culture is the strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. It’s a place where everyone is trusted to do their best work without micromanagement. Authenticity is celebrated, and you’re encouraged to be your true self.
As a woman in tech, I especially value how inclusive the environment is. Everyone’s voice is heard, and individuality is celebrated. It’s empowering to work in a space where you are recognized for who you are and where your unique strengths are appreciated.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I love spending quality time with my family, creating cherished memories. I enjoy peaceful walks in nature, exploring new places, and immersing myself in the beauty of the outdoors.

My partner, son, and I share a passion for travel, always seeking new adventures and experiences. Whether it’s discovering hidden gems, trying new cuisines, or simply enjoying each other’s company, our time together is about embracing life’s little joys and creating unforgettable moments.

Are you enjoying this series and want to learn more about life at GoDaddy?

Tell us about yourself and your role at GoDaddy
My name is Marc, and I'm a Senior Marketing Manager at GoDaddy. Originally from Cologne, Germany, I have a passion for travel and exploring different cultures, though Cologne will always be my home. I began my journey at GoDaddy eight years ago, starting as a working student at Host Europe while completing my Master's thesis. Host Europe was part of the HEG Group, which was acquired by GoDaddy in 2016. Since then, I’ve held several roles in both local and global product marketing across various brands. My current focus is on the German market, and what excites me most about my role is the constant variety – no two days are the same, and there’s always a new challenge to tackle.

What real-world problems does your team address?
In product marketing, my team serves as a connector between different departments, such as marketing, product management, and sales/care. Our primary role is to ensure smooth communication between these areas, always keeping our customers' needs in focus. This involves creating detailed marketing campaign briefs, assisting with product launches, and understanding the unique demands of the local market so we can adapt our offerings accordingly. Currently, I manage marketing efforts for three different brands within the German market, and one of the most exciting aspects of the job is crafting strategies that meet our customers' specific needs.

What has driven your growth throughout your career?
Empathy, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication have been pivotal to my professional growth. Bridging different departments requires not only building good relationships but also understanding individual needs. Since we collaborate with people who have varying levels of expertise, it’s crucial to explain things in a way that’s clear and accessible. This fosters better teamwork and efficiency. Developing an understanding of different departments and aligning their goals has been vital to creating a productive work environment, which has fueled my career development.

What advice would you give someone interested in Product Marketing?
Always be open to learning. Product marketing isn’t something you can fully grasp in a classroom, and there are always new trends and ideas to explore. Approach everything from the customer’s perspective—if something is unclear to you, it will likely be confusing for the customer as well, so dig deeper until you fully understand it. Remember, it's okay to not have all the answers, which is why collaboration with experts is so important. The beauty of this role is that you’re always learning something new, making the work continuously engaging.

How does GoDaddy support you in pursuing things that matter to you?
GoDaddy provides excellent flexibility, particularly through its remote work options, which allows me to balance my personal and professional life seamlessly. I work with colleagues from around the globe, from Australia to America, and the ability to work from different locations means I can travel while staying productive. Collaborating with people from diverse cultures not only enriches my work experience but also makes the world feel smaller and more interconnected.

What do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing football (soccer) and volleyball, and taking part in group activities like cooking. These help me unwind. When I have more time, my wife and I love to travel, exploring new cultures and enjoying sunny destinations, especially to escape the cold winters in Germany. Travel rejuvenates me and often sparks fresh ideas.

Interested in learning more about life at GoDaddy
Check out our GoDaddy Life social pages to meet our team, learn about our culture, and explore career opportunities!
ESG and the fundamental value of community

ESG leaders take on the importance of Community.

Listening in on conversations between multiple ESG leaders reveals the fundamental value of community.

Sharing ideas, best practices, challenges, and strategies is immeasurable in the world of ESG, which still feels uncharted in some ways even after all these years. Unanswered questions about ESG frameworks and global requirements are sufficient reason to seek peer support. When the impacts of one company can easily affect those of another along a supply chain or value chain, the ESG journey should not be undertaken alone.

I was fortunate enough to be present when the Workiva ESG Customer Advisory Board (CAB) convened for their first meeting. It happened during Sustainability Week US, an Economist Impact event that brings together thousands of ESG experts in Washington, D.C. Members of the ESG CAB come from a wide range of industries, including finance, entertainment, energy, manufacturing, travel, and technology. They have expertise in sustainability, law, SEC reporting, investing, and strategy. According to my colleague Mandi McReynolds, head of ESG at Workiva and host of the podcast ESG Talk, CAB members all gravitate toward complex work, are collaborative, and have the C-trust. suite's.

The deadline for the public to comment on the SEC's climate disclosure proposal was approaching when we met. CAB members discussed their concerns and questions, as well as what has worked well for them in terms of data sharing between ESG and SEC teams, reporting, and providing some level of assurance.

If you have the chance to join a global community of ESG leaders and practitioners in these early years of mandated ESG reporting, take it. It's an opportunity to network, hear what your peers think, and play a key role in shaping the future of ESG.

What I heard at the ESG CAB meeting helped me rethink the space's challenges. My team will bring CAB members' perspectives back to Workiva so that we can continue to improve our platform to meet the needs of all customers.

One key takeaway is that the more streamlined and focused ESG reporting is, the more time teams can devote to ESG work. In other words, they can devote more time to integrating ESG into corporate strategy, identifying risks and competitive advantages, and, most importantly, taking meaningful action toward ESG objectives.

“Our report is data heavy, but I don’t know if it’s information rich,” said a CAB member from a leading oil services firm said. “Creating a meaningful story and action plan based on that data is more difficult.”

“I’m driving my team to do less reporting, not more,” said the global sustainability principal for a multinational design and manufacturing company. “We can’t do everything. We’ve got to do less because there’s too much noise.”
“It isn’t easy to be thrown into such a quickly changing environment that is also very visible. It's important to stay in touch with your peers.”

An ESG manager for an energy company noted the importance of data integrity for public disclosures and for internal decision-making on matters like targets for greenhouse gas emissions. “To determine a good target, you have to get a good handle on the data you have and have management be confident in the data, so that if you set targets, you can be confident in them,” he said.

Finding your community
A new community for ESG leaders and practitioners is forming outside of Workiva. The SEC Professionals Group has formed a new ESG Professionals Group, which is open to anyone involved in ESG work. Workiva is the national sponsor, but the site is intended to be a grassroots ESG community free of salespeople, media, and trolls, where people doing the work can dig in and have genuine conversations with others in the field.

Members of the ESG Pro Group, like the SEC Pro Group, have access to exclusive events, members-only resources such as blogs and forums, and leadership opportunities. Some of our ESG CAB members, I know, are also involved in industry-specific ESG communities or local groups with ties to a city or region.

“It isn’t easy to be thrown into such a quickly changing environment that is also very visible,” said an associate director of ESG for an IT company told my team at Workiva.

“Everyone is watching, and yet there aren't really any guideposts leading you to the right path. It's important to stay in touch, particularly with your peers, to make sure you’re all aligned.”
