Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County is honored to continue its collaboration with Wesco to expand and protect affordable housing options across Central Florida.

Wesco—a global leader in supply chain solutions with operations, warehouses, and sales offices in Orlando—has been a key supporter of Habitat Orlando & Osceola’s Habitat Inspects Program. This initiative offers free four-point and wind mitigation inspections to eligible homeowners. Over its first two years, the program helped residents collectively save about $200,000 on home insurance premiums, averaging $900 in annual savings per household.

Beyond financial backing, Wesco also contributes through hands-on volunteerism. Recently, a team of ten Wesco volunteers helped lay sod at a new Habitat home in the Holden Heights neighborhood of Orange County. Once construction is complete, the home will be purchased by a local family through an affordable mortgage program.

KeyBank Grants $300,000 to Support Affordable Housing in Colorado and Utah
KeyBank has provided a $300,000 grant to Enterprise Community Partners to support efforts in keeping low-income families in Colorado and Utah safely, sustainably, and affordably housed. The funding will help create and maintain healthy housing options that are both accessible and environmentally responsible.

This grant strengthens Enterprise’s ongoing efforts through the Rocky Mountain Resilience Academy by extending practical assistance to housing organizations in both states. The support will help these groups achieve their development goals and tap into new financial opportunities at the federal, state, and local levels—enabling them to launch housing initiatives that reduce environmental impact and enhance community resilience.

Roy, a U.S. Army veteran, dedicated 12 years of service to his country with strength and perseverance. During Operation Desert Storm, he worked as a mechanic, maintaining essential military vehicles under the most demanding conditions to ensure the safety and mobility of his fellow soldiers. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, precision, and steadfast commitment. After completing his service, Roy transitioned into civilian life, applying his technical and security expertise to continue supporting military personnel. He eventually made his home in North Chicago, Illinois, where he spent 28 years creating a lifetime of memories with his family in a house filled with warmth and love.

Over time, however, Roy’s home began to deteriorate. The kitchen floor started to give way, persistent leaks became a source of stress, and the bathroom no longer met his physical needs. Most concerning, safely entering and exiting his home became increasingly difficult. The place that had once been a haven now posed daily challenges, threatening his well-being and independence.

That’s when Lake-McHenry Habitat for Humanity stepped in—offering more than just repairs, but a renewed sense of comfort and peace of mind.

A dedicated team of volunteers set to work, making critical improvements to restore both the structure and spirit of Roy’s home:

When the renovations were complete, Roy stood in his revitalized home with gratitude in his eyes. The upgrades meant more than just repairs—they brought renewed safety, comfort, and stability. After years of dedicated service to his country, Roy can now enjoy his home of nearly three decades with confidence and peace.
