Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County is honored to continue its collaboration with Wesco to expand and protect affordable housing options across Central Florida.

Wesco—a global leader in supply chain solutions with operations, warehouses, and sales offices in Orlando—has been a key supporter of Habitat Orlando & Osceola’s Habitat Inspects Program. This initiative offers free four-point and wind mitigation inspections to eligible homeowners. Over its first two years, the program helped residents collectively save about $200,000 on home insurance premiums, averaging $900 in annual savings per household.

“At Habitat Orlando & Osceola, we recognize that solving Central Florida’s housing crisis requires more than just building new homes,” said Catherine Steck McManus, President and CEO of Habitat Orlando & Osceola. “That’s why we’re committed to helping current homeowners maintain and stay in their affordable homes—something we’re able to do thanks to partners like Wesco.”

Chris Wolf, Wesco’s Chief Human Resources Officer and executive sponsor for Wesco Cares, added, “It’s inspiring to see our employees volunteer their skills and time to strengthen affordable housing in our communities. Maintenance and repair efforts are vital for long-term housing stability, and we’re proud to continue our support of Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County.”

Beyond financial backing, Wesco also contributes through hands-on volunteerism. Recently, a team of ten Wesco volunteers helped lay sod at a new Habitat home in the Holden Heights neighborhood of Orange County. Once construction is complete, the home will be purchased by a local family through an affordable mortgage program.

Click here to view high resolution photos of the event.

KeyBank Grants $300,000 to Support Affordable Housing in Colorado and Utah
KeyBank has provided a $300,000 grant to Enterprise Community Partners to support efforts in keeping low-income families in Colorado and Utah safely, sustainably, and affordably housed. The funding will help create and maintain healthy housing options that are both accessible and environmentally responsible.

This grant strengthens Enterprise’s ongoing efforts through the Rocky Mountain Resilience Academy by extending practical assistance to housing organizations in both states.
As a founding sponsor of Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity, Wesco has played a vital role in supporting home repair initiatives that change lives and foster brighter futures.

Roy, a U.S. Army veteran, dedicated 12 years of service to his country with strength and perseverance. During Operation Desert Storm, he worked as a mechanic, maintaining essential military vehicles under the most demanding conditions to ensure the safety and mobility of his fellow soldiers. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, precision, and steadfast commitment. After completing his service, Roy transitioned into civilian life, applying his technical and security expertise to continue supporting military personnel. He eventually made his home in North Chicago, Illinois, where he spent 28 years creating a lifetime of memories with his family in a house filled with warmth and love.

Over time, however, Roy’s home began to deteriorate. The kitchen floor started to give way, persistent leaks became a source of stress, and the bathroom no longer met his physical needs. Most concerning, safely entering and exiting his home became increasingly difficult. The place that had once been a haven now posed daily challenges, threatening his well-being and independence.

That’s when Lake-McHenry Habitat for Humanity stepped in—offering more than just repairs, but a renewed sense of comfort and peace of mind.

A dedicated team of volunteers set to work, making critical improvements to restore both the structure and spirit of Roy’s home:

A new ramp was installed, allowing Roy to move in and out of his home safely and effortlessly, easing the risk of falls.

The kitchen underwent a full renovation, addressing water damage and structural issues. It is now a safe, welcoming space for family meals and connection.

The bathroom was redesigned to be fully accessible, making daily routines easier and helping Roy regain a sense of dignity and independence.

When the renovations were complete, Roy stood in his revitalized home with gratitude in his eyes. The upgrades meant more than just repairs—they brought renewed safety, comfort, and stability. After years of dedicated service to his country, Roy can now enjoy his home of nearly three decades with confidence and peace.

Thanks to the commitment of Lake-McHenry Habitat for Humanity and their focus on critical home repairs in the Chicagoland area, veterans like Roy receive more than just assistance—they receive hope and the reassurance of a secure home. Habitat remains honored to serve those who have served our nation, ensuring they have a safe and dignified place to call home.

Click here to know more about Wesco's commitments.

Wesco, a leading Fortune 500 company, has reinforced its commitment to community support by joining forces with Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County to aid in their Home Preservation Program. This initiative focuses on providing essential education, inspections, and repairs to homeowners, helping them preserve safe and affordable housing, especially during and after hurricane season.

The Importance of Home Preservation
In Central Florida, where the threat of hurricanes is ever-present, the need for comprehensive home preservation efforts is crucial. The Home Preservation Program tackles significant challenges faced by residents who struggle to maintain their homes due to financial limitations or resource shortages. The program offers vital services aimed at strengthening homes and equipping families with the knowledge and support they need.

“We are truly appreciative of Wesco’s ongoing generosity and commitment to our mission,” said Catherine Steck McManus, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County. “Their contribution will greatly enhance our Home Preservation Program, creating lasting impacts for homeowners and helping to build stronger, more resilient communities.”

Wesco’s donation will support vital services, including educational resources, free wind mitigation, and 4-point inspections, which are essential for evaluating the safety and structural integrity of homes.

Habitat for Humanity’s Ongoing Efforts
Since its founding in 1986, Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County has been dedicated to combating housing insecurity in the region, having built, repaired, or rehabilitated over 900 homes. Through initiatives like Face the Housing Crisis™ and the Cornerstone Housing™ Initiative, Habitat continues to address affordable housing issues that are fundamental to the well-being and stability of the community.

Wesco’s Dedication to Social Responsibility
Wesco’s support of Habitat’s Home Preservation Program highlights the company’s strong sense of social responsibility. With annual sales nearing $22 billion and a global workforce of about 20,000 employees, Wesco is a leader in providing electrical, communications, security, and utility solutions. The company’s widespread presence, with nearly 800 locations in over 50 countries, allows Wesco to leverage its resources for positive community impact.

“Natural disasters like hurricanes Milton and Helene can have catastrophic consequences on our community,” said Chris Wolf, Wesco’s Chief Human Resources Officer and executive sponsor of Wesco Cares. “We must take proactive measures to ensure homes are as secure as possible, and we encourage other organizations to join us in supporting Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County in their mission to provide and maintain affordable housing.”

In addition to financial contributions, Wesco employees actively volunteered on-site, assisting with the construction of a Habitat home in Orlando’s Holden Heights neighborhood. This hands-on effort demonstrates Wesco’s commitment to fostering strong community ties and addressing the housing needs of local families.

Creating a Better Future Together
The collaboration between Wesco and Habitat for Humanity offers hope to many Central Florida families. As Habitat continues its battle against the affordable housing crisis, partnerships like this are essential. They provide both immediate relief through physical repairs and long-term stability through ongoing education and support for families.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County’s success speaks for itself. As one of the top 40 producers among more than 1,100 Habitat for Humanity affiliates worldwide, their proven model has earned widespread trust. Their role as a HUD-certified local Housing Counseling Agency further emphasizes their dedication to empowering families with the tools and resources needed to succeed.

By supporting critical initiatives like Home Preservation, Wesco not only enhances the immediate safety of residents but also helps drive a broader movement towards sustainable housing solutions in Central Florida.
