      <div style="text-align: justify;">Five hospitals supported by Transform Shared Service Organization (TSSO) in Ontario, Canada, have upgraded the performance, reliability, and usability of their Oracle Health Foundation electronic health record (EHR) system by moving it to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This cloud migration allows the hospitals to improve experiences for both patients and clinicians, scale their systems more effectively, and introduce new AI-driven capabilities, including a recent pilot program for the Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent. <br />   <br />  TSSO was established by five hospitals in the Erie St. Clair region of Southwest Ontario—Bluewater Health, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Erie Shores HealthCare, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Windsor Regional Hospital—to oversee their IT operations. <br />   <br />  In addition to supporting these hospitals, TSSO delivers technology solutions to other healthcare providers such as long-term care facilities, hospices, and family health teams. By adopting OCI’s high-performance, scalable cloud platform, TSSO has strengthened data security and improved real-time access to patient information for clinicians through faster and more reliable EHR functionality. OCI also serves as the platform for introducing Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent, with a pilot currently running among selected physicians and a broader rollout planned for 2026. <br />   <br />  According to Lyn Baluyot, CEO of TSSO, enhancing infrastructure resilience and flexibility helps improve patient and clinician experiences while ensuring seamless interoperability and operations across facilities. She noted that a modern cloud platform enables TSSO to deliver adaptable, high-quality services, while OCI’s stable and redundant environment provides strong availability, performance, and a foundation for future innovation. <br />   <br />  Since transitioning to OCI, all five hospitals have reported significant improvements in EHR speed and responsiveness. Average page load times for clinicians have dropped by 71%, and login-to-usable time has been reduced by 46%. These improvements allow clinicians to complete documentation more efficiently and dedicate more time to patient care. Faster system performance also supports more detailed and timely updates to patient records, improving communication and coordination among care teams. <br />   <br />  With Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent embedded in the EHR, clinicians will be able to automatically generate detailed draft clinical notes from patient encounters in near real time. Physicians will only need to review and approve the notes, reducing administrative workload and allowing greater focus on patient interactions. <br />   <br />  Erin O’Halloran, vice president and Canada market leader at Oracle Health, stated that TSSO’s move to OCI is a key step toward delivering integrated, patient-centered care. OCI supports a wide range of healthcare workloads, including application systems and advanced data and machine-learning services, helping clinicians make better-informed decisions. By using Oracle’s Canadian cloud region for data storage and processing, TSSO can maintain continuity of critical health services and enhance regional healthcare preparedness.</div>

The doctor prescribes antibiotics, and within a few days you start to feel like yourself again. You decide to stop taking the medication early. <br />   <br />  It might seem harmless, but it isn’t. <br />   <br />  When antibiotics are stopped too soon, the remaining bacteria have a chance to survive, adapt, and develop resistance to the drugs meant to eliminate them. This contributes to a major global health challenge: antimicrobial resistance (AMR). <br />   <br />  As AMR grows, infections that were once easy to treat can become dangerous, even deadly. Millions of people around the world already die each year from drug-resistant infections. The encouraging news is that we can all help slow the spread of resistance by taking a few simple steps:</div>    <ul>  	<li style="text-align: justify;">Always complete the prescribed antibiotic course, even if your symptoms improve.</li>  	<li style="text-align: justify;">Don’t give your antibiotics to anyone else.</li>  	<li style="text-align: justify;">Dispose of unused medicines safely—never flush them or toss them in regular bins.</li>  	<li style="text-align: justify;">Follow your healthcare provider’s guidance—avoid requesting antibiotics unless they are truly necessary.</li>  </ul>    <div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>From Production to the Pharmacy Shelf</strong> <br />  We are committed to combating AMR by ensuring responsible manufacturing practices, monitoring our supply chain, and supporting education for both healthcare professionals and patients. <br />   <br />  Over the past two years, Teva has received two BSI (British Standards Institution) certifications for responsible antibiotic production. We keep a close watch on our facilities to prevent antibiotic residues from entering the environment, and we work with our suppliers to uphold the same standards. Antibiotics in wastewater or surrounding ecosystems can encourage bacteria to evolve and become more resistant. <br />   <br />  <strong>Reaching Patients in Meaningful Ways</strong> <br />  To promote better antibiotic use and prescribing habits, we collaborate with Clarivate on targeted pilot initiatives tailored to local healthcare systems and community needs. <br />   <br />  In Germany, one pilot featured brief messages on pharmacy display screens for patients collecting antibiotic prescriptions. More than 389,000 digital reminders were also sent to pharmacists, helping them guide patients on safe antibiotic use. The impact was clear—77% of pharmacists reported that these materials supported more productive conversations with their patients. <br />   <br />  In Kenya, the program integrates reminders directly into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems so physicians receive real-time prompts about appropriate prescribing. Patients also get SMS reminders—delivered in their local language—to finish their medication. Insights from this project revealed common misconceptions, such as the belief that antibiotics can treat colds, as well as challenges like limited access to diagnostic tools, both of which can increase the likelihood of inappropriate use and rising AMR. <br />   <br />  There is still progress to be made, and every one of us can contribute. By working together, we can safeguard the effectiveness of antibiotics and ensure they remain powerful tools for future generations.</div>

   <title>AI Detects Heart Disease Early Through Medical Data Analysis</title>

      <div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Can advanced mathematical models help detect heart disease before symptoms even appear?</strong> Increasingly, the answer is yes. By analyzing data collected during routine medical visits, these models can uncover early warning signs that might otherwise go unnoticed. <br />   <br />  “We now have advanced AI tools that allow us to gather and analyze enormous volumes of medical data in ways that weren’t possible before,” explained Nina Goodheart, Senior Vice President and President of the Structural Heart and Aortic division at Medtronic. “Artificial intelligence helps us detect specific heart conditions earlier and enables faster, personalized treatment.” <br />   <br />  <strong>Take aortic stenosis (AS) as an example</strong>—a serious heart valve condition affecting roughly 250,000 Americans each year. In AS, the aortic valve narrows, reducing blood flow from the heart to the body. The symptoms often develop gradually and vary between individuals, making it difficult to diagnose early. <br />   <br />  However, every time you visit a doctor, a trail of health data is recorded in your Electronic Health Record (EHR). This data may include lifestyle factors, test results, physician notes, and more. Hidden within that information could be signs of a developing heart issue like AS—but finding them manually is like searching for a needle in a haystack. <br />   <br />  That’s where artificial intelligence becomes vital. <br />   <br />  “AI helps bring structure to overwhelming and complex health data,” said Chris Rogers, Senior Director of Strategic Provider Solutions at Tempus AI, a Chicago-based company that uses data science to enhance medical diagnostics. “Our algorithms are designed to detect subtle patterns that may not be visible to clinicians reviewing patient records individually.” <br />   <br />  <strong>Tempus Next</strong>, the company’s AI-powered software, uses around 60 advanced algorithms to identify gaps in care for 15 different cardiovascular diseases, including AS. “Medical data is incredibly nuanced,” Rogers noted. “Our technology is built to adapt to the unique context of each healthcare provider, offering insights that are both specific and actionable.” <br />   <br />  The software scans your EHR—including physician notes—and matches your health data to established diagnostic criteria for AS. If your data meets enough indicators, the system alerts your healthcare provider, potentially prompting further evaluation or treatment. <br />   <br />  This isn’t just a concept—it’s already delivering results. <br />   <br />  In a recent collaboration with the John Brancaccio St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center in New York, Tempus Next identified 388 patients who met criteria for AS or another serious heart condition but weren’t yet receiving appropriate treatment. These findings were flagged for doctors, offering a chance for earlier intervention. <br />   <br />  Now, Medtronic and Tempus are expanding their work through a new clinical trial called <strong>ALERT</strong>, which will review patient records from six additional healthcare sites. The study aims to identify not only patients who are being overlooked but also the systemic reasons behind delayed diagnoses—ultimately helping to design better care processes. <br />   <br />  “The underdiagnosis of severe aortic stenosis is a widespread issue that can be deadly within two years if untreated,” said Dr. Wayne Batchelor, Interventional Cardiologist and Chair of the ALERT study’s steering committee. “Our goal is to create more timely, equitable treatment pathways and break down the barriers preventing proper care.” <br />   <br />  The potential impact of this technology is enormous. <br />   <br />  “It’s inspiring to think about what’s possible,” Goodheart said. “We could one day apply this to millions of patients, catching AS before it becomes critical and improving or extending countless lives. The numbers speak for themselves.” <br />   <br />  And that’s one kind of math that could truly save lives.</div>
