Throughout 2025, companies across the United States have broadened their workplace giving initiatives to deepen employee engagement and strengthen their impact on local communities. As corporate social responsibility (CSR) continues to take center stage in modern business strategy, many organizations are enhancing programs such as matching gifts, volunteer grants, and payroll giving to empower employees to support the causes they value most.

Corporate Philanthropy on the Rise
Data from the Giving USA Report shows that corporate giving reached over $44 billion in 2024, marking a 9% increase from the previous year. This upward trend underscores the growing emphasis on purpose-driven business models, where employees and companies unite to uplift nonprofits nationwide. With fresh innovations in giving platforms and engagement tools, experts predict that 2025 will be another record-setting year for corporate philanthropy.

Companies Leading the Way in Workplace Giving
Many major corporations are now reimagining philanthropy beyond one-time donations—creating inclusive, scalable, and engaging giving experiences for their teams:

C.H. Robinson reaffirmed its dedication to community involvement in 2025 through its Robinson Cares initiative. This program empowers employees to champion nonprofits they care about, awarding $400,000 in grants to causes nominated by staff. The initiative highlights how integrating giving into business strategy can enhance both workforce engagement and community outcomes.

The Walt Disney Company continues to emphasize volunteerism and social responsibility through its long-standing Disney VoluntEARS program. Employees around the world donate countless hours to community projects while earning matching grants for eligible charities. Disney’s ongoing efforts in education, environmental conservation, and youth development exemplify how volunteerism and employee giving can become a core part of company culture.

Microsoft operates one of the world’s most celebrated employee giving programs, matching every employee donation dollar-for-dollar and rewarding volunteer efforts with additional funds. Since the program’s inception, Microsoft employees have collectively donated over $2 billion to nonprofits worldwide—demonstrating the long-term impact of sustained corporate giving.

Principal Financial Group announced in July 2025 that it had surpassed its global volunteer goal of 145,000 hours, achieving 157,657 volunteer hours across 4,100 nonprofits worldwide—a 50% increase year-over-year. This milestone illustrates how volunteerism can serve as a flagship component of a company’s broader social responsibility strategy.

These examples reinforce the powerful connection between workplace giving and employee engagement. Companies that prioritize philanthropic programs often report higher retention, stronger morale, and a more purpose-driven organizational culture.

Why Workplace Giving Is Essential for Nonprofits
For nonprofits and educational institutions, corporate giving programs represent a steady and sustainable source of funding. Initiatives like matching gifts, volunteer grants, and payroll giving provide year-round financial support, helping nonprofits maintain momentum in their missions.

However, many nonprofits still face challenges identifying eligible donors and tracking available programs—resulting in millions of potential corporate dollars going unclaimed annually.

How Double the Donation Empowers Nonprofits
Double the Donation, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is the leading provider of workplace giving technology that bridges the gap between nonprofits and corporate philanthropy. Its automation tools simplify key fundraising processes, enabling organizations to:

Identify donors eligible for matching gifts, volunteer grants, and payroll giving programs.

Streamline the connection between employee donations and their employer’s giving benefits.

Boost revenue through automated matching gift detection and real-time employer data.

Strengthen donor relationships by making corporate giving easy and accessible.

With the company’s latest platform enhancements—such as new Volunteer Grant and Payroll Giving modules—nonprofits can unlock more workplace giving opportunities throughout 2025 and beyond.
