As hurricane activity escalates across the Atlantic, preparation becomes essential rather than optional. For Bacardi, especially with its regional office located in South Florida, the safety of its employees remains a central focus—both professionally and personally during hurricane season.

To reinforce this commitment, Bacardi hosted the South Florida Region of the American Red Cross at its Coral Gables office for a Hurricane Preparedness Training Session. The session aimed to equip attendees with the necessary knowledge and tools to remain safe before, during, and after severe weather events.

Roughly 50 individuals took part in the training, which covered essential preparedness practices such as assembling emergency kits, formulating communication strategies, securing homes, and responding to situations like power outages or evacuation orders. The session also emphasized the importance of community support and aiding vulnerable populations during natural disasters.

“We appreciate Bacardi’s dedication to preparedness and for taking proactive steps to ensure their team is ready for hurricane season,” said Monica Rusconi, Regional Disaster Officer for the South Florida Red Cross. “Being prepared can save lives. When businesses like Bacardi get involved, it strengthens the resilience of the entire community.”

“Our people are not only crucial to Bacardi’s success but also serve important roles within their own families and neighborhoods,” said Kathleen Procario, Vice President of Human Resources for Bacardi North America. “Through our partnership with the South Florida Red Cross, we’re investing in their safety—both at the workplace and at home.”

Bacardi’s relationship with the Red Cross and its disaster relief initiatives spans many years. Earlier this year, the company contributed to relief operations in Southern California following destructive wildfires. In 2024, Bacardi also provided aid to support recovery after Hurricanes Milton and Helene impacted the Southeastern U.S.

Supporting communities during crises has long been part of Bacardi’s values. This legacy dates back to 1862, when founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, the creator of BACARDÍ rum, led earthquake relief efforts in Santiago de Cuba. His spirit of service continues to guide the company’s response to modern-day natural disasters.
