Dailycsr.com – 15 December 2015 – From the past six years, Fifth Third Bank has been working towards helping to fight cancer, whereby the bank has now “surpassed $6 million” in donating for “Stand Up To Cancer” contribution through “SU2C credit card and debit cards”, the latter being a “social media campaign”.

Fifth Third Bank started the collaboration in the year of 2013, whereby till now, the bank has “launched several campaigns” for providing its customers and “community members” with the opportunities of lending a helping hand in the global fight against cancer. Likewise, they are encouraged to donate to “SU2C’s innovative research programs”.

While, Fifth Third conducted the campaign #howifight, people were encouraged to share stories about fighting cancer on social media. For every “eligible post” with the #howifight hashtag shared on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Vine, Fifth Third contributed “$1 to SU2C”. A total of above “35,000 stories” came out, while Fifth Third Bank selected many of them and highlighted and shared through illustration on its “website at 53.com/howifight”. Fifth Third Bancorp’s Executive Vice President cum the Chief Marketing Officer, Maria Veltre stated:
“We are thrilled to reach this donation milestone. We know with Stand Up To Cancer’s collaborative research approach, these dollars work hard to find better treatment options.”

The statistics gathered by the “Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results program” conducted at the “National Cancer Institute” reveal that fifty percent of United State’s male population and one third of female population falls prey to cancer.

About SU2C programme, BusinessWire writes:
“SU2C, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is a breakthrough initiative that raises funds to accelerate innovative cancer research, enabling scientific collaboration in order to get new therapies to patients quickly. To date, SU2C has funded 162 clinical trials, enrolling more than 6,000 patients”.

Fifth Third has been maintaining “this collaborative approach” and commitment towards “finding different ways to improve people’s lives”, besides making the global communities a better place. The co-founder of SU2C Rusty Robertson stated:
“We are so grateful to Fifth Third Bank for their continued support and are thrilled to reach this fundraising milestone through its campaign. The generosity of Fifth Third and its customers will help SU2C continue supporting innovative research and save more lives now.”
