In Georgia, access to fresh, locally grown food goes beyond basic nutrition—it serves as a catalyst for promoting climate action and social equity. This vision is at the heart of the work done by Community Farmers Markets (CFM), a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta. CFM is actively implementing several of the 20 climate solutions outlined by Drawdown Georgia, particularly in underserved communities. During a recent episode of the Georgia Climate Digest video series, hosted by seasoned climate justice advocate Eriqah Vincent, CFM’s Director of Operations & Vendor Support Casey Hood and Food Systems Innovation Manager Raevin Hawkins discussed how their initiatives are cutting carbon emissions, addressing food insecurity, and fostering stronger community connections.

Click here to watch the video.

In Georgia, locally grown food serves not only as nourishment but also as a vehicle for enhancing climate initiatives and promoting equity. Consider Community Farmers Markets, an Atlanta nonprofit that is implementing several of Drawdown Georgia’s 20 climate solutions in the communities most in need. In a recent discussion with Eriqah Vincent—veteran climate justice advocate and host of the Georgia Climate Digest video series—Casey Hood, Director of Operations & Vendor Support, along with Raevin Hawkins, Food Systems Innovation Manager, explained how the organization is cutting emissions, addressing food insecurity, and strengthening community bonds.

Click here to watch the video
