08/30/2020

Timberland is among the twenty-six “companies, cities, and organizations” which have pledged in support of “the world’s first regional chapter of 1t.org.”

Dailycsr.com – 30 August 2020 – Timberland has always had a soft corner for trees, which even reflects in its “brand’s logo” ever since it was founded in 1973. Nonetheless, the said connection goes beyond this. Trees have many “environmental, social, and economic benefits” as a result, Timberland has planted more than “10.7 million trees worldwide since 2001”.

Last year, in September, Timberland took a pledge of planting “an additional 50 million trees by 2025”, whereby it is proudly applying the pledge in support of “American Forests and the World Economic Forum’s launch of the US Chapter of 1t.org”. Timberland is among the twenty-six “companies, cities, and organizations” which have pledged in support of “the world’s first regional chapter of 1t.org.”

In the words of the Senior Manager of “community engagement and communication” at Timberland, Atlanta McIlwraith:
“A greener future is a better future and trees help forward that vision for us al. Timberland is proud to support the US chapter of 1t.org with our pledge to plant 50 million trees by 2025. 1t.org invites and enables us to join a broader community of stakeholders to power its global movement. We’re excited to bring our commitment and experience to the table and help achieve this bold goal.”

In order to fulfil the pledge, Timberland extended its hand in partnership with “six different organizations”, namely “Green Network, Justdiggit, Las Lagunas Ecological Park, Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA), TREE AID, and Trees for the Future”. Moreover, the outdoor lifestyle brand has also joined its hand with “American Forests and Treedom” besides undertaking its “tree planting projects”. Furthermore, Timberland also informed:
“Projects in 2020 are focused on Haiti, China, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Tanzania and Mali – including support of the Great Green Wall, an African-led movement to grow an 8,000km line of trees across the entire width of Africa to fight climate change, drought, famine, conflict, and migration”.
