Xylem outlays its sustainable initiatives and bolsters them with strategic vision.

Xylem, a global leader in sustainable water solutions, has come out with its Sustainability Report for 2014 wherein it not only present its achievements but also lays the groundwork for their further improvements.


With increasing urbanization and straddled with an ever growing population, the earth’s natural resources are facing an ever growing threat of depletion. Being one of the world’s leading solution provider in water technology, Xylem has always been committed to finding a solution to water problems – a pre-condition for advancing sustainability in any form. So as to outline its achievements and lay outlay its future ambitions, Xylem has recently come out with its Sustainability Report for 2014.

We believe that being a global leader in the water industry and a champion for sustainability are inextricably linked. Our sustainability goals are directly tied to our business operations and reflect our corporate culture. From water intake to return, we help to address the present-day needs of our stakeholders without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs,” said Patrick Decker, Xylem‘s CEO and President.
 
So as to ensure that its sustainability actions are aligned with its business strategy, Xylem has put a system in place in the form of a strategic framework. In its just published report the company has outlined its 5 year sustainability goals, which sets ambitious targets such as reducing its greenhouse gas intensity by 20%, reduce its water usage by 25%, and bring down its waste to landfills by 20%.
 
In addition to these goals, Xylem plans on also increasing its vitality index by 2% every year. By vitality index its means its percentage of sales from newer, more energy-efficient products. Along with this it also plans on bolstering its impact of its Watermarks, through its corporate citizenship program which makes increased use of its employee engagement practices.
 
Xylem’s commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the it’s recently published Climate Change Policy, which goes to highlight its many initiatives of working with stakeholders in order to increase water quality and resilience, water productivity, so that it can indirectly or order directly mitigate the impacts of climate change.
 
Xylem’s Climate Change Policy also portrays how it is developing solutions that will go a long way in improving the efficiency of managing wastewater and water resources so as to help communities build greater resiliency.
