National Grid Supports The ‘Clean Power Plan’ Of EPA

09/29/2016

The team of six power companies has got another name to add in their list: National Grid.

Dailycsr.com – 28 September 2016 – On Tuesday, the 27th of September 2016, the National Grid collaborated with “eight other power companies” in the “D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals” for supporting the “Clean Power Plan” of EPA.

The entire association of all the seven companies urged the court for upholding the rule “as a lawful application of EPA’s authority” under the “Clean Air Act”, as a step to cut down the CO2 emissions generated by the power sector. In the words of the National Grid U.S’s President, Dean Seavers:
“I’m proud to continue to stand with some of the nation’s largest utilities and generators as leaders in the fight against climate change. Combined, we operate more than 100,000 megawatts of generating capacity—representing nearly 10 percent of the nation’s total—and serve millions of customers in 26 states across the country.  We believe our collective experience has proven that the CPP is reasonable and achievable, while allowing us to continue to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy for our customers.”

Besides National Grid the six other companies involved in support of the plea are “Austin Energy, Calpine, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, New York Power Authority, PG&E, Seattle City Light, SMUD, and Southern California Edison”.
