Empowering Women in STEM: Pantene's Hair Repair Innovation & Gender Equality Impact
"Did you know that the science behind your favorite P&G brand products drives their creation? Our award-winning scientists find immense joy in developing superior solutions that address real-world consumer challenges. As the creators of beloved brands like Always, Olay, Pantene, and Venus, we recognize the significance of inclusive teams in shaping meaningful innovations.

While women have made strides in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers, there’s still room for growth. On February 11, we celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science, honoring women’s contributions to P&G’s innovation and the global scientific community. For over 185 years, P&G has served consumers with innovative products, fostering an inclusive culture. Our legacy includes trailblazers like Else Schulze, P&G’s first female Ph.D. scientist, who paved the way for a diverse STEM workforce.

Today, women innovators at P&G continue this legacy, working collaboratively to create products that millions of households trust and love."

Remember, progress in STEM fields benefits everyone, and we’re committed to full inclusion of girls and women in science!

Within our haircare enterprise, female innovators play a pivotal role in reshaping the consumer experience of healthy hair through the introduction of the latest Pantene Miracle collection. Dr. Jeni Thomas, the Global Science Communications Director at P&G Hair, contributes to the development of Pantene’s Miracle Rescue Deep Repair Conditioner. This groundbreaking product features the innovative technique of melting Pro-V pearls, effectively revitalizing damaged hair. Fueled by scientific research and enriched with ingredients inspired by skincare, this new Pantene hair repair solution presents an exceptional remedy for damaged hair, promoting stronger and healthier strands.

Over the years, our dedication to gender equality, inclusive leadership, and innovation has deeply influenced our workplace culture, motivating our workforce, driving business growth, and leaving a positive mark on our communities.

Empowering the Innovators of Tomorrow
While honoring the achievements of women in STEM from the past and present, we also envision the future generation of scientific leaders. Collaborating with our partners in promoting gender equality, we facilitate opportunities for women across all age groups to lead, innovate, and make a difference.

We engage with proactive organizations like Girl Up to foster educational pathways and cultivate future leaders who not only enrich P&G but also contribute to the betterment of our communities. Girl Up is actively closing the gender gap in STEM fields by inspiring young female leaders to leverage their STEM skills for addressing community challenges and promoting social welfare. This initiative encompasses a STEM Bootcamp and provides financial assistance for implementing community projects.

Recently, four young girls with a fervor for STEM from Girl Up’s Cincinnati region embarked on a STEM Immersion Day at P&G headquarters and our Research & Development Center in Mason, Ohio – the largest of its kind globally. During their visit, they toured laboratories, gained insights from archivists and scientists regarding the career trajectories of P&G’s female innovators, and learned about groundbreaking technological advancements from our remarkable women scientists working across our Beauty and Home Care brands. Interacting with these budding innovators underscored the significance of fostering opportunities for young leaders today to unlock solutions that cater to all consumers, thereby shaping a more equitable future for all.
